By my beak, is this a full metroidvania with save files, a working map system, upgrading weapons-- the works?? I'm astonished as to how you got this all done in 2 weeks time, this is exemplary! I especially like the nods to Metroid 1 you've made, brought a smile to my face. The graphics and music are exactly what they should be; I love your tilesets!

Fantastic work!

Yes and thank you!

The map grid is 24 x 24, which is about 9/16th's the size of the first Metroid game. I ended up with 145 rooms, which is about 30-35 more than I wanted, but when I saw the layout, I had to accept it and move on. Even though the player movement 'seems' slow, when you consider a rate of 60 pixels per second, that means it's possible to go from one end of the game to the other in 68 seconds, not counting screen transitions.

Once the voting session is over and this jam is unlocked, I'll patch the fixes which will allow for 100% items and the good ending.  After the game is beaten once, an unexplored map will appear in future play-throughs (though a few hidden rooms will not appear).
