Yeah you are 100% right about the backtracking and stuff I tried to think of a neat way to do that, but I couldn't come up with anything. Originally I wanted you to be able to go into the houses and there was also going to be a mine to go into, but I just didn't have the time, so the items are sorta just hid around the level in not very original places :P
