How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
Theme: "Overflow"
The main mechanic of ink rush is about the control of a limited ink supply. If players use too much ink when they pull the path, they trigger an overflow flood that starts to follow them, making them difficult to survive. Ink is not just a unit it is a resource related to the subject "overflow" directly.

Especially object: "brush"
Brush is the heart of the main tool and the gameplay. This allows players to attract platforms, bridges and escape routes. It symbolizes both creativity and danger - the more you use it, the more you get to trigger floods.

👀 For the best experience, I recommend downloading the game instead of playing the web version it runs smoother and avoids some UI issues!

I like the game. The base concept is really creative and there's a lot of potential with the idea. The visuals are nice and the music's quite calm/serene.

I don't know where to go on the second level once you climb the big hill and there's a blind jump with a massive pit to the right. But I enjoyed my time with it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing the game and I’m really glad you enjoyed it!
And yes when you reach the very big hill at the end of the second level, you're actually supposed to jump into that big pit to progress to the next stage. I know I didn’t make it very clear, and that’s totally on me sorry about that! 😅

I’ll definitely improve that part in a future update to make it more obvious and smoother for players.
Thanks again for your feedback and for giving the game a try!

Fun game, really good idea, the concept is great, it would be cool if you continued it ! :)

Developer

Thank you so much!
Your game was also really nice I especially loved the art, it was super well done! Great job!
It just needs a bit more clarity in the gameplay and it’ll be even better.
And yes, a lot of people told me I should continue it, so I might add 5 more levels in the future 😄

Really fun !

I love the gameplay and the art !

Maybe the future indie game of the year (?)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your comment! 😊
Your game was also really nice, and now that I know you made it in just 7 hours my respect for you has gone up even more!
Honestly, if you had more time, you could’ve created something truly amazing.
Great job, and thanks again for the feedback! Who knows, maybe it could be indie game of the year if I keep developing it 😄

Yeah, for sure! This is the best gameplay I've seen in this jam (seriously).

You maybe have something in this one, keep pushing !

(and thanks again )

Very cool idea! It's cool that you're playing a platformer that you're simultaneously finishing up. Very interesting and fresh! Good luck!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much, really! 😊
Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing more games from you in future game jams you’ve got great potential!
You did an amazing job, keep it up, and thanks again!

Sorry if I'm a bit late to the party, I was busy with some other stuff so I couldn't check this out sooner lol. It was definitely worth the wait tho and the game is really good. The game has such a cute and simple artstyle and the gameplay is pretty fun. I spent wayyyyyy more time than I'd like to admit trying to perfect the levels and beat them as fast as I could lol, which probably just shows how entertaining the game is (and how much of a no-lifer I am, but I digress). Overall, a very chill and polished game that I spent way too much time playing lol. Amazing work!

That's all, have a great day :D

Thank you so much for the kind words it means a lot! Don’t worry about being late to the party, the fact that you took the time to play and share your thoughts is awesome.

I’m really glad you enjoyed the art style and gameplay! And hey, no shame in perfecting levels that just means the game hooked you (mission accomplished, lol). It’s always rewarding to hear when someone loses track of time playing something I worked on.

Thanks again for the sweet message, and I hope you have an amazing day too! Keep gaming and enjoying the little things.

Also, us no-lifers  we’re basically just ‘dedicated fans’ right? 😆

Awesome implementation of the theme and object ! Congrats :)

Would have preferred seeing you use an asset pack instead of AI ! Check out Kenny's assets if you don't know them already :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! I really appreciate your kind words and feedback 😊

Just to clarify I didn't use AI for the game assets. The character and tiles were created by other artists (credited properly on the game page), and the rest of the assets like the trees, grass, and props were drawn by me.

The only things I used AI for were the poster and the main menu background image everything else was either hand-drawn or sourced from credited human artists.

Thanks again for checking out the game, and I’ll definitely check out Kenney’s assets too, they’re awesome!

Fun project - one weird bug, half the letters weren't rendering properly, I was getting little squares with numbers in. I also found the controls a little floaty for trying to land on tiny platforms, it was pretty difficult - but I wonder if that was an intentional choice specifically to make it more difficult?

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing my game!
Yes, unfortunately, there’s a known issue with the Web version  the UI can break and some fonts don’t render properly. I actually added a warning on the page, but I’m really sorry if that made your experience worse. 🙏

I’m not sure why it behaves like that on Web, but I can confirm the downloadable version works just fine the UI is normal, no weird glyphs or rendering issues. So if you’re still curious, I definitely recommend giving the downloadable version a try!

As for the floaty controls yes, that was actually intentional 😅 I wanted to make the game a bit more challenging and give it that "Souls-like" difficulty vibe, since I really enjoy tough games myself.

Thanks again for playing, and I hope the UI issue didn’t ruin the overall experience too much! 💙

Submitted(+1)

I didn't see that - and don't worry, it didn't impact my enjoyment! It was just an interesting quirk :)

The game is nicely done, great job. Love the art.

Developer

Thank you! 😊 Your game was good too, I enjoyed it! Keep it up!

Your game art is really amazing! What a great art style and artwork cover too! Well done! The gameplay is cute and so great when you create those lines out of nowhere. It's really satisfying. At first I thought it was procedural because at the end of level 1 I just fell into the void and reappeared in a new level, but I guess this is how you finish the levels, you have to jump lol. Well done for your game :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!  I'm really happy you enjoyed the art and gameplay! And haha yes, the level transition is just a jump  kinda magical 😄
By the way, I also played your game and wow  the art there was honestly some of the best I’ve seen in the jam too! Super polished and beautiful. Amazing work! 👏

Submitted(+1)

Thank you! But I really like your art style too! Who did the artwork with the green character and the pixel art? You did all ?

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! 😄 To be honest, I didn’t make all the art myself I got the character and platform tiles from itch.io, and I added my own touches. I drew the brush, trees, some grass, and other small details. I really wanted to draw everything from scratch, but I was alone and ran out of time 😅. The first day of the jam didn’t go well for me because of personal stuff, so I basically did the programming, level design, and the rest of the art in just two days! You can see the credit in the itch io page btw

Submitted(+1)

Well you can be proud of yourself you did amazingly and there is no shame in rearranging what can help you. So congrats again and keep it up! :)

Developer(+1)

Yes, I did feel a bit of a gap because I couldn’t do everything myself  but at the end of the day, we’re only human 😊 And you're right, I’ll make sure to highlight the credits better, because the people who made the tiles and character really helped me a lot and deserve all the appreciation. Thanks again for your kind words and support! 💖

I really love playing these kind of games even I'm not good at it. 🥹 I love the paint limit mechanic.

Developer

Thank you so much!  I'm so happy you enjoyed it!
And honestly, I'm also super impressed by your game  the theme implementation was spot on and the art was really well done! 🎨 Great job!

Fun puzzles and drawing mechanic. Enjoyed myself!

Developer(+1)

Thank youuu! 😄
I’m super happy you had fun solving puzzles and scribbling around  that’s the spirit!🖌️✨

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much to everyone who played my game! 🙏💖
I'm really grateful for all the support and kind words.
I want to apologize for some UI issues in the web version I’m aware of them and I know they can affect the experience a bit 😅
If you want the full experience without those problems, I highly recommend trying the downloadable version  it’s much more stable and polished!
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoyed playing!

This was so fun to play! The painting effects are super cute.

I think it’s really cool how the ink "eats you up" if you’ve used too much paint — it adds a great challenge.
The music is cheerful and fits perfectly.
I'm not good at platformers (I suck at jumping), but the vibe of the game made me want to keep playing.
I think this might be one of my favorite entries in the entire jam — maybe even a winner!

Developer

Thank you so much for the lovely comment!  I'm really glad you enjoyed it And honestly, your game was amazing  definitely felt like a winner to me 🏆👏 Great work!

Submitted(+1)

Aw, thank you too! We really appreciate it!

This game is really cool. Genuinely impressive how this was made in such a short time. The mechanics were so fun, I could imagine an entire game expanding on the concepts. A+ material here.

Developer

Thanks a ton!  Really happy you had fun playing it!
Your game also stood out to me  super creative and fun to play!  I really enjoyed the concept, and I think it has a lot of potential to grow into something awesome! 🚀 Keep it up!

Submitted(+1)

This was heaps of fun! The brush mechanic was so much fun to mess around with, it made me feel like a genius for parkouring on one pixel brush strokes! The platforming was solid and there was a very clear risk & reward theme when deciding to use the brush to platform easier, at the cost of getting closer to flooding! One suggestion I have was that the goal for each level wasn't super clear, and at some points I wasn't sure if I was at the end of the level or if I had to keep going. This is an easy fix though, and a coloured light or particle at the end of the level would suffice :) Played through the entire game and really enjoyed it! You did great!

Developer

Thank you so much! 😊 I really appreciate your detailed feedback it means a lot! You're totally right about the goal not being super clear Honestly, I noticed it too when I replayed the game, but by that time the submission deadline had already passed 😅
In the future, once the jam is over, I definitely plan to fix that and maybe even add more levels!
Also, I really enjoyed your game too  it was a lot of fun and super well made! Great job!

Submitted(+1)

I played through the whole game. Great art and theme implementation in a platformer. I enjoyed this and would like to see it continue.

Thank you so much for playing my game and for your kind words!  I really appreciate your feedback. I actually saw your game too and it looks really interesting! I'll definitely try it out tomorrow since I didn’t get the chance today. Looking forward to experiencing it and sharing my thoughts with you soon
