I've been busier than expected this month so I opted to leave the jam to avoid putting even more pressure on myself and so I can spend more time with my family. I forgot to consider my Santa tho and now I feel really guilty because I'm worried I just wasted someone's time and effort...

Is there any possible way to undo leaving the jam or did I just waste 6 days for someone else and screw over my giftee :(

Thank you for listening! I was a bit worried that people would miss the story since I don't think I really did a good job of telling the narrative through the music alone, but I'm glad you still found it intriguing. I might try focusing on more silly projects for a while now since I think I went a bit too dark with this one, but I digress.

Either way, thank you for checking the game out and have a wonderful day (or night idk)! :D

Thank you for the kind words! I understand what you mean by lack of suspense, I definitely put all my eggs into one basket with The Summer Night and kinda ran out of time to create other tracks of similarly suspenseful nature lol so I’ll try to improve pacing for future projects for both cheery and suspenseful tracks (or any kind of track ig lol).

Again, thanks for listening and have a wonderful night (or day idk)!

Thank you for listening! I'm glad you enjoyed the more light-hearted and whimsical tracks, honestly I felt like they lacked a bit of direction and I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to structure them, but it's nice to hear you still enjoyed them regardless.

Thank you again for commenting and have a great day!

Thank you for the kind words! As for the comments on mixing, I'll be sure to be more careful about it for future songs. I have somewhat poor hearing so I only realized after I submitted that the tracks were pretty quiet when compared to other songs lol. As for the swells, I did intend for them to be a tad bit loud to invoke a sense of panic (maybe?), but yeah in hindsight perhaps I went a bit too overboard on it lol so I'll keep this in mind for future tracks.

Again, thank you so much for listening and have a wonderful day! :D

Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm happy the OST moved you as I wasn't so sure if this narrative approach to an OST jam would work. I put my all into this and I'm quite satisfied with the product, and seeing others enjoy the soundscape and narrative even if certain things (*cough cough* Mixing *cough cough*) dragged it down makes me really happy.

Once again, thank you for commenting and have a spectacular day!

(P.S., I did indeed get some sleep afterwards :D)

Thank you for listening! Funny story abt the voice, I was originally planning on using Siri but couldn't figure out how to get it to work so I just used the robotic one instead lol (uhh ok kind, of a mid story in hindsight but I digress). I'm glad you enjoyed the progression of the darker aspects within the tracks too. Have an amazing day! :D

Thank you for the kind words and I will be sure to keep in mind the quality > quantity of tracks thing. I tend to get carried away with the story I want to tell and end up adding way more tracks than I should along with sacrificing quality... hehe...

But anyways, thanks again for commenting and have a fantastic day!

I'm happy you enjoyed the shift in tone of track 8 and the stuff after, I put a lot of thought into those parts and it makes me happy to see they interested you. As for the lofi quality, I'll keep this in mind for future jams so the songs sound more polished. Thank you for commenting, have a wonderful day :D

I swear I replied to this message when I got it but I guess I forgot to hit send... well anyways, thank you for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere!

I agree with the comment below, the percussion work is pretty good.  Your usage of the motif is also done quite well and it's interesting to see it travel through different contexts. I really like Breaking Point a lot especially the guitar (although that might just be my love for tense music speaking) but the other tracks are also really nice (I also liked the ukulele in the Main Theme, idk why but it gives me a mix of cheery and uncertain lol).

Have a great day!

I'm glad you enjoyed the tension of track 8, it was the track I definitely spent most work on so seeing someone appreciate really means a lot (even if it probably could have been better). I'll also be sure to take note of your mixing advice so I can make use of them for future projects or games, so thank you for that!

Have an amazing day!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the quantity of tracks (even tho truthfully 50% of it is just remixed older songs and motifs lol). I hope you have a wonderful day! :D

That's understandable, I also have a lot of stuff I wasn't able to fix due to time constraints so I don't blame you lol (also your name's cool too :D)

(1 edit)

I was gonna ask how in the world am I the only person to have seen this majestic piece of work but looks like a few people beat me to it while listening lol.

But still, this was such an amazing experience holy crap. The fact that each track fades in to the next really adds a lot to the cohesion and really felt like I just experienced a 15 minute short story. Not to mention how each track describes and sets the mood really well with the context of the story and the overall composition of each track, this is INSANE! The moment I got to the 2nd part of Forth I knew I was in for a ride.

My favorite was definitely Thunder (although I think that's just my bias for intense tracks talking) but all the tracks were really great. I especially love the unusual time signature of Nkoma Atoll as I rarely see tracks implement them, especially to the degree of quality present in said track. If there ever was a game released about this concept using these tracks I'd definitely check it out, just imagining a gaming experience with these playing in the background looks so cool lol, I honestly have no words you outdid yourself with this one.

I think that's all I have to say, if I put more I'd just be repeating myself lol. But yeah, this was incredible thank you for blessing my ears with this underrated OST.

(Very Important Side-note: R.I.P boat friend, you will be missed 🙏)

I like the  cheery nature of these songs, I think it fits the game concept you have quite a lot and the overall charm is quite nice. The only thing I can say is that I think the reverb effect is just a little bit too prevalent in my opinion, but other than that slight issue I don't really have anything else to say except good job! (especially since you only had 3 days to work on it)

Have a wonderful day!

A cool game and concept! I like the art and the transitions between menus was really cool. The music in the main menu was really chill and I think adding some music while playing the levels would also be a nice addition, but I digress. I think it would also be nice to add a controls menu in the game or maybe a tutorial. I spent like 5 mins in level 2 before I realized you could jump over tiles lol. It doesn't take away from the game tho cuz I saw you put the controls in the game page so it's most likely my fault cuz I didn't check beforehand lol.

Overall, a chill game with nice art and a cool concept. You guys could definitely expand from this if you wanted to, wonderful work!

That is all, have a nice day! :D

I like the 8-bit artstyle quite a bit! Pretty nice for something done in only 7 hours. I do agree with a few others that maybe adding a bit of audio and an implementation of the special object would be nice because I don't really have a basis for what to rate in those fields... For what little time you had this is still pretty good and I commend your efforts, nice work!

That is all, have a wonderful day! :D

Hellooo! Thank you for the kind words and I'm so happy you enjoyed the game! I believe the issue with the random encounter giving you the balloon was an oversight with the game over procedure on my end, and I'll try to fix it asap (although maybe not cuz the jam's abt to end anyways lol). Anyways tho, thank you again for playing and have a wonderful day! :D

A simple but interesting game. As a few others have mentioned I think a "retry" button in the game over screen would be helpful instead of having to reopen the application every time. I also noticed how some blobs couldn't be cleaned for some reason. If this was intentional then I'm fine with that but perhaps a different color or shading for the irremovable blobs would help. If it isn't though, then I'll just put this here in case you plan on fixing it or maybe it could help for future games of yours. Still though, this is still a pretty decent game and I commend your efforts!

That is all, have a wonderful day! :D

I've rarely seen rhythm games be published in jams, but I really like the concept of this one! I felt the overflow of work truly coursing through my veins with every hit. Impeccable.

I do have a few things that I noticed when playing though. As someone previously mentioned the timing required to keep up with the combo is very precise and I think the game would benefit from a tiny bit of leeway if possible. You can also just spam the hit button as there's no cooldown but if this is intentional then ignore this point lol. Also, for some reason when you retry the game it doesn't stop the game over music or reset the level state, so you sometimes start with an already accelerated song state + game over music in the bg.

(A bit of a side note, but when I discovered you could spam the hit button to get a hit, I immediately wanted to see how far I could take this. So I made a quick macro that spams the "s" key over and over really quickly and managed to get the perfect score, you could say!)

Alright enough of that, I still enjoyed the game a lot! The images you used were hilariously amazing and the game over screen made me literally laugh out loud! The music is also really well chosen and I jammed to the beat the entire game lol. I really liked how the music increased tempo with each cycle as well, an endless mode rhythm game isn't something I've come across before I believe so I found this very intriguing and if you decide to expand this game or plan on making a game like this in the future I'd love to play! Amazing work (overflow) here, great job!

That is all, have a wonderful day! (ALSO, I'm sorry for the super long comment I talk way too much 😭)

Hello! Thanks for checking out the game and thank you for the comment. I'm glad you found the art style intriguing, I know it's not the best but I think I've grown way too attached to the cartoonish art style I use in my games, so too late to change now lol. I'm also glad you enjoyed the humor as well. Have a wonderful day!

Very fun and goofy game! I was wondering at first why the game was labeled as bullet-mayhem, but then I saw the comically large pile of Bucky Jr's jumping towards my location and realized why the hard way lol. Took me a while but I finally defeated Bucky and it felt rewarding indeed! I definitely feel like you guys could implement an arcade mode to this if you guys ever plan on revisiting this project, but it depends on you guys. Really tho, this is some solid work and you guys did a good job with this! Kudos!

(also, the boss music is a banger lol)

That's all I have to say, have an amazing day! :D

Very addicting lol! My friends and I used to play blackjack a lot before so this was definitely a fun trip down memory lain. I like the fact that you guys added negative cards as well, it really spices up the game and adds more ways to strategize. I ended up getting 2080 points through the power of going all-in every time lol. Sadly, I learned the hard way why gambling is indeed not so good and lost it all in one game lol. I do feel as if the theme and object implementation could be a little better though. Maybe make the special brush reusable after each round or the overflowing of chips alter the gameplay in a way, but the game still turned out great regardless.

Overall, a sweet and simple game with hella addicting gameplay, amazing work you guys! That's all, have a wonderful day! :D

Thank you for checking the game out! With the power of sleepless nights I was able to pull through lol. I may have been too ambitious tho as the game is a bit bear bones and lacks content in most areas, but I wanted it to be a complete-ish storyline so I just went with it lol. Anyways. thank you again for trying out the game and have a wonderful night (or day/noon idk lol)!

Very interesting approach to the theme and object, I like it! The game was a bit confusing at first, but after figuring out the controls and the overflowing mechanic it was actually a pretty fun playthrough. You could definitely expand from this in the future if you wanted to, nice job!

That is all, have a great day :D

Hello! Thank you for the comment and you'll be pleased to know the well drawn ladder had a big smile when you climbed it too! Have a wonderful day :D

10/10 game, you can bonk people.

In all seriousness though this game was really fun to play through! The premise is simple but the game is surprisingly difficult (at least for me it was). I like the overall design and blocky aesthetic of the game. The manager was also so goofy yet terrifying lol I loved her design. The only thing I can say I guess is that the game was quite laggy and the framerate was a bit low, but this is most likely an issue on my end since my laptop isn't very good to say the least lol so don't worry. Overall, you guys did a great job, I had a lot of fun bonking civilians cleaning messes in a convenience store!

That is all, happy bonking! :D

Very polished looking game and the concept makes for very interesting levels! The puzzles were also really interesting and I actually had a bit of trouble figuring out the solutions at times lol (then again, it's probably because I suck at puzzles lol but I digress). It took me way longer than it should have to realize that the locked door in the last level could be jumped over instead of opened lol 😭😭. Anyways, the art style is also really nice and the music is great. I can tell a lot of effort was put into this project and it shows, amazing work you guys!

That is all, have a great day you guys! :D

Sorry if I'm a bit late to the party, I was busy with some other stuff so I couldn't check this out sooner lol. It was definitely worth the wait tho and the game is really good. The game has such a cute and simple artstyle and the gameplay is pretty fun. I spent wayyyyyy more time than I'd like to admit trying to perfect the levels and beat them as fast as I could lol, which probably just shows how entertaining the game is (and how much of a no-lifer I am, but I digress). Overall, a very chill and polished game that I spent way too much time playing lol. Amazing work!

That's all, have a great day :D

I don't think I've seen a puzzle game yet from the submission pool, so this is pretty interesting! It looks  polished and the water motion is pretty fluid as well so great job on that. It reminded me of one of those mobile game ads I'd see sometimes while watching yt, which I thought was really interesting! I do have to agree with some tho that the screen shake and "I nEeD WaTAaAa!" scream does get a bit annoying when it's repeated every time you restart the level. It would be nice if it only repeated the first time, but I digress.

Overall, a pretty simple yet polished game. I can definitely see this being something more if you decide to continue it. Maybe by adding more levels, brushes, and maybe interactive items, but that depends on what you decide on. Still, great job!

That's all, have a good one! :D

Greetings! I appreciate your kind words and thank you for checking out the game! It's definitely a running theme with the jams I join that my game ideas are sometimes too ambitious...  The only reason I managed to pull this off was I actually locked in and did nothing but work on this dumb game for 3 days 💀. Very rewarding but definitely not physically... Anyways, thanks again for trying the game and leaving a comment, have a wonderful day! :D

Hello! To my detriment the former is correct... I'm not entirely sure if sleeping hella late for 2 nights was worth this but I digress. Regarding the special object and theme, before the jam started I had planned to make an turn-based style game since it was something I hadn't done before but in hindsight I incorporated the theme and object quite poorly lol. Anyways, thanks for checking the game out and have a wonderful day!

A unique and cool approach the theme and object, very nice! As a few others have stated, the gameplay is a bit confusing at times, and I think the game would have benefited from a short tutorial, but for how little time we had this is still very impressive.

I especially like card and turn-based games so this was very interesting to me, but personally, the game did feel quite rng-based and at some points I just spam reset until I got good cards lol (though then again, maybe it’s cuz I just suck at strategizing lol, so it’s probably alright). The game’s still pretty good tho and I played through all the available levels! Great work you guys!

That’s all, have a wonderful day! :D

I was already anticipating an extremely well done game after seeing the previous comments, but damn, this did not disappoint in the slightest! Honestly some very impressive work, especially with what little time we had. The game has so many cool details that I really appreciated, such as the funny posters, HR observing camera, and the fact that you can see the player through the toilet cam! I'm a sucker for tiny details and I think it really adds a lot of character to this already full-of-character game! Definitely a 5/5 from me and I wouldn't be surprised if this made it into the top 5 or higher.

"Keep up the good work you guys, very nicely done." -Bogdan, HR

That's all, have a wonderful day! :D

Good eve! I had quite a bit of fun designing the interactions, and I'm happy to see that you enjoyed them as much as I did :D. Have a wonderful night! (or day/afternoon idk lol)

Ahh I see, well that explains it lol. Crazy how far off my original theory was to the truth lol, but I'm at least glad you guys know about the glitch!

(1 edit)

Really well done! The sad story in the beginning really adds a lot of character to the game  and I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit. I can definitely see this being more than a simple arcade game if you guys ever plan to expand on it. Music and art is also really good, you guys did a great job with this!

A bit off topic, but I found an odd glitch that makes your character invincible somehow. I spent around 20 mins (I have nothing better to do 💀) trying to figure out why it happens but couldn't... But basically (I think), if you spam the red paint brush's ability over and over again eventually the enemy attacks can't damage the player for some reason. HOWEVER, if you use the blue paint brush's ability a few times eventually you lose the invincibility (for some reason??). I was able to survive for 5 minutes using this glitch until I found out abt the blue paintbrush thing lol. I have no idea what causes this and I'm not even sure if the invincibility is related to the paint brushes at all but I just wanted to comment abt it in case you guys plan on bug fixing or stuff like that, but I digress.

ANYWAYS, you guys did a great job on this game and would love to see more of it! That's all, have a colorful day!

(also sorry for the long post 😭)
