Game Title/URL: Own A Bike Store! | https://miceormouses.itch.io/own-a-bike-store

Pitch/Information: A game where you sell bikes and bike related products to customers and complete various activities in the night while someone (or something) chases you. Currently a demo (but I'm working on the full game)

I'd like feedback on: The overall gameplay, I suppose. Was it interesting? Is the twist good? Did it scare you (even just a little..?)

Good work! The character customization is a nice touch to this bullet hell. I like how it isn't impossibly hard as soon as you press start and instead builds up all the elements until you're surrounded by death. I didn't really upgrade the powerups much, but it's still a nice addition, nonetheless.

Overall, nice game, good job!

This game feels very polished. Everything down to the sound and graphics just feels... complete in a sense. Although I'm not a very puzzle kind of person, this game was still very fun to play! I love how after the player knows the main mechanics, the hints just turn into inspirational messages and opinions lol.

Overall, very well made and fun game!

Exactly. There are only bikes. And fun bikes. And tires.

You can't add a timer to your game and expect someone NOT to speedrun it.

In all seriousness though, this game is really well made. The level design is smart, it isn't a walk in the park (minus the first 2 levels) but it also isn't a Nevada mail man's worst nightmare. The controls also feel very nice and smooth and the characters and animations are cute. The humor in this game is also nice. I like the idea that mail is some sort of unstoppable force that can destroy concrete walls and kill aliens with a single hit lol.

I did encounter a strange bug, however. For whatever reason if you go back to the main menu while in a level, the entire game has a stroke trying to figure out what level it's in. It's hard to explain so I'll just send a video here. (Don't mind the mistake I made at the start pls, it never happened)

This game was a lot more fun to play than I anticipated. It was a bit confused at first since I didn't really understand the mechanics, but when I got the hang of it it was really fun to mess around with. I was able to make it to day 3 and get all the upgrades that I could. If you were to add more content to this game, I would definitely check it out!

Overall, good pirate game, well done me hearty!

Thx for the comment! I'm very glad that the surprise did get a reaction since I was scared of it being too plain.

Damn, this game is great! The only thing I suppose I could criticize is the fact that healing the ship via the islands costs a lot (although this could be intentional to make the game hard).

Overall, great game!

Thx for the feedback! Yeah, I struggle with making the sound just right. I'm confused on what you mean by "maker". But I assume you're talking about the customer and the tablet. If so, then I'll try and polish it up (maybe).

Hi! I don't really know how to do these so I guess I'll start off with the game and its link.

https://miceormouses.itch.io/own-a-bike-store

It's not the best game, but I am proud of it. I do have a few mistakes that I made along the way but I guess that's part of the process. I'll list them all here.

1.) Being lazy - Yeah, this isn't so hard to understand. I was just being lazy and avoiding on working on the project.

2.) Having too high of a goal - I initially wanted to have 5 days, but I realized later on that with the current time constraints I set on myself (since I joined the jam late), that wasn't going to be possible. So, I set my goal to just having 1 day.

3.) Her - 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f 57 61 73 20 69 74 20 6d 65 3f

Even if I made a few mistakes, I'm happy about the outcome and I hope everyone who submitted a game is too!

That's all from me. For the last, LAST time, have a good day/noon/night, have fun, and I'm excited to try out all of the games submitted to the jam!

This game looks interesting, I'll check it out when the trying period starts (since I think I've been playing way too many games the past hours...)

One thing I noticed though is that there is a downloadable .zip file called HTML. If you were trying to make a web version of the game that can be accessed via the game page, you need to set the "Kind of project" in the game's page to "HTML" and need to check the "This file will be played in the browser" on the .zip file. You can still have a .exe file in the downloads even if there is already a web version.

That's all for now, I'll report back when I play the game!

When I first opened this devlog, I didn't immediately read the text and scrolled down (for whatever reason) only to be met by an image of Ronald McDonald himself coming to make a crispy fry chicken out of MY thighs!

In all seriousness though, this game looks really cool (and funny, as well). I like that the game hypes you up for some sort of monster that lurks in the shadows, but nope. It's just Ronald McDonald. I didn't really test out the game much since horror isn't really my strong suit (and also because I actually got scared by Ronald McDonald sprinting to me...) but I can tell a lot of work went into this game.

Overall, cool game, good food, but the staff weren't so respectful.

Really interesting tower defense/offense game. I like how the teams are just called RED and BLUE instead of being based of off countries that fought in WW1. Took me a while to realize that minigunners and sentries don't aim directly at the enemies... I lost due to the enemy quite literally just waltzing right over to the trench with no resistance by my forces lol. I couldn't figure out how to beat offense, however. Maybe I'm just bad at strategy (which I usually am), idk.

Overall, cool game, and now I'm currently being sent to court-martial (I really hope that's the right term)

looks really interesting. I'll be sure to check it out if I get the time to.

LET'S GOOO

like seriously, this took like 15 mins.

But anyways, some comments about the game, I like the premise of the game and if you added some things (like maybe cosmetics that can be bought via the coins or powerups that are littered around the map) then it would be even more addicting.

I agree with Rvinator about the ambience track. I feel like it could be longer, and adding more sfx would make the game experience more impactful.

Overall, a good game (with balls!).

I really like the simplistic design of the game. The game also looks interesting. I'll check it out if I have time to.

Day 7 (Last Day)

Welp, I'm done. Sadly, I had to go with the "make it a demo" idea since I just don't have enough time. However, I am pretty happy on how it turned out. I hope there aren't any bugs or stuff that could break the game that I missed, but I guess those bugs are part of the game dev experience. If it says I haven't submitted my game yet, it's because I'll submit it after I'm done with this. It's been a fun 1 week, and I hope it was for all of you guys too!

For the last time, good morning, noon, or night, have fun, and I hope we all have a great time playing each other's games! :D

Day 5 and 6

Oh boy, I did it again. I've been busy (and lazy) so I haven't gotten any work doNe on the game sadly... I've kind of thought about it and I think realistIcally It's not possible for me to finish the full Game in the amount of time I have. I'll try to see if I can but for now I'm considering just making a demo and finisH the game later on (even if the game in its current state is pretty easy...). No updaTe really since any work on the game I did was just to fix a few problems. That's all from me, sorry for basically forgetting about this game D:

Day 3 and 4

Couldn't update the devlog yesterday since I wAs a bit busy, so I'll include what I did yesterday for this update (not that it was a lot, but still).

I've (mostly) finished day 1 of the game and now I'm working on finishing the oTher 4 days (I'll not show an image of it since it's basically identical to the tutorial). I'm not so sure what else I could add after I finish the days, but I suppose I'll just figure it out later on.

Well, that's all from me. For the 4th time now, goodnight, have fun, and gl on the game jam ya'll!

Day 2

I've made some decent progress with the main game after getting a sudden boost of motivation to work on it. So far, I'm working on the tutorial but onCe I finish I'll get straight to work on the rest of the days. The code is gOing alright and the art (although simplistic) is good enough ig.

The game is actually going pretty well. A bit surprising since most of my projects are just me forgetting about the gaMe until the last second, but I digress. I look forward to updating this dEvlog (even though no one's seen it yet lol).

For now, though, this is all from me. Goodnight ya'll and I wish the best of luck to all of your games!

Day 1

I've come up with the game idea. It's not the most creative, but it's something that I Think could be interesting to work with. Basically, you run a bike store and you sell bike products (i.e. tires, spray paint, bike bells, etc.). I'll be using Godot since it's the engine I've used and know about the most.

I haven't been working on the game so much since I Haven't really been feeling motivated (which I hope I can change later on). I've finished the title scrEen background and music but I haven't started properly coding or doing any art on the actual game.

that's all I've done so far. I wish you all a great daY and I hope the progress on all of the other games in this jam are doing great!

Hello!

I just wanted to ask if it's ok to use an asset from a previous game, as long as I change it slightly? This might seem like a dumb question, but I was just curious.

Day 0 (Just an introduction and a mention of plans)

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late to joining this jam, but I hope to put out a game that at least works :D. This is my 2nd MFGJ and I'm planning to (hopefully) put out a game that's better than my first one. I'm planning on adding music this time because I'm much more confident in my music making capabilities (let's just hope I keep the confidence throughout this jam D:). I have an idea on what my game could be about, but I'm not going to put it here yet since I'm  not so sure if I'll use it for my game. For now, I'll just sleep and start actually doing work tomorrow.

So, for now, I wish you all a great day/noon/night, and I hope all of your games are going great so far!

Thanks for the reply! I'm surprised someone even checked the game out since I didn't make it in time, but I really appreciate it! This version of the game has a lot of bugs but I'm glad you still thought it was nice. Have a great day!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I suppose that the enemies do have a lot of health. I'll try and adjust for future projects.

(1 edit)

I liked the art, music and the comedic story line. Like what Donveloper Studios has said, however, I feel like the game was heavily reliant on luck. The gameplay was interesting, though, as most of the games I've played in this jam have been controlling a character, so it's nice to just sit back and press buttons on a screen.

Overall, a good game. Almost as good as crotch goblins. Literal goblins.

If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could check out my game too :D

Nice game with cool music. The character looks cute but the lack of a left and right sprite made it a bit confusing on where he was looking sometimes.

Overall, a cool game!

(Please laugh at my joke)

It's an interesting use of the limitation and the idea is interesting, but I felt the game got too hard at times since there would be so many ninjas at the same time. Adding music to the game might have also enhanced the game experience but I understand that making music is hard (I myself haven't been using music in my jam games that much)

Overall, interesting game that could maybe be better.

Thank you for the comment and thank you for playing the game!

Thank you for your feedback! It's probably not a skill issue since others have also said the first part was hard, so sorry about that. I'll try keep this in mind when I play test future games.

Nice game. The visuals are simple yet appealing at the same time. Controlling the people were at times difficult but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I also noticed you have a little mobile joystick when you press on the screen which means you also thought of mobile support, which I found very interesting.

Overall, a nice simple game.

If you have time, I would appreciate it if you could check out my game as well :D

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I probably overlooked the fact that the gameover screen takes a long time... same thing for the first area since when I was play testing I thought it was fine which probably wasn't true since I'm the one who made the game and I know how all the mechanics work.

Again, thanks for your feedback!

The use of the limitation was very, VERY creative. That's something I wasn't going into this jam. And the fact that you can leave messages was also really interesting. Sadly, like what others have mentioned, the game doesn't really work too well. Like what KandiStar said, making "escape" the pause and inventory key means that every time I wanted to use the inventory, it kicked me out of fullscreen, which was really annoying. But if you can sort out all that stuff I bet this game could be even cooler than it already is.

Overall, good game that could be better.

If you have some time I would really appreciate it if you could check out my game as well :D

(1 edit)

I thought the game was just gonna be a simple boss battle, but the second part was amazingly comical and clever lol. The villain is also pretty goofy so plus points for that.

Overall, good game, but probably not so good for the captured villagers.

If you have some time in your hands, I would really appreciate it if you could check out my game as well :D

Cool game! The art style you guys used is really nice and the puzzles are short but good. The use of the theme was interesting, it actually tricked me for a bit lol.

Overall, good looking game and gameplay!

Thank you so much! I submitted REALLY late. As in 3 days late, which is probably the reason why no one has seen it. I really appreciate your comment and I wish you a great day :D

(1 edit)

The game was nice. I'm not so sure how the limitation was used, though. The music and the assets you chose work nicely together but I think the game was too hard for me since the car movement was really hard to get used to.

like what 杏子シオリ said, I encountered a bug while playing that made the ambulance go under the map when getting too close to the hospital.

Overall, the game was interesting and cool.

If you have time to check my game out as well I would really appreciate it :D

The art is really nice and the music is nice as well. The only thing that I could consider a problem is the movement speed in my opinion is too fast, but it doesn't make the game impossible so I guess it's fine. I was also confused on how to beat the game since the game doesn't really explain what the special stars do.

Overall, nice game but I think it could be a little better.

Also, if you have time I would really appreciate you checking out my game :D

Good game with interesting premise. I didn't realize that you had to be far away from the enemies for the disguise to work so I didn't really use it much but if I did I'm sure it would make the game even better.

However, it kinda looks like you misunderstood the Limitation since in the description you put deceiving the enemies (which is the theme) as the limitation when in reality it's "Death affects more than the player". I suppose killing the enemies gives you a disguise to trick the other enemies, so it kind of fits the limitation. Other than that however, the game is good.

Overall, nice game but maybe a little misunderstanding.
