That's quite the effort! I'm going on 110 and I would be glad to reach even 150 by the end! I kind of agree, that it's quite annoying to see spammy entries that are just asset flips or not even that. Just an unedited sample project. I'm pretty sure we should just report those, as they are against the rules. They're basically stealing a rate away from a legitimate contender as there's  no way to get to all of them. Some of them have been removed, but a few remain. Still, I hear ya, gotta be graceful to the noobies...

The way I look at it is like this.

Yes they are asset flips or just the actual example project but just because they have ratings does not mean they might win or take away from others. Hear me out.

If example game had high rating count but other games that Dev made from scratch only has a low amount. This example game might receive only 1 star across the board and the other game might have higher star scores. This would mean that yes the non example game had fewer rarting but gets an overall higher score.

Yes the game someone worked hard on got less plays but at least they know that they didn't just use an example project.  They should be proud of that.

Example projects should not of been allowed or at least have a separate rating system or Jam. Maybe a Jam aimed at newer Devs or people that are new to gdevelop.

(This is all just my opinion.)

Yeah, I get what ur saying. And to a margin, yes.  What I was getting at, was that if I'm stuck playing asset flip games, my time is kinda wasted in terms of playing actual games. I might not get to the game I would have liked or rated the highest. Beginner or not, there should be some kind of effort made. They're not gonna win by simply posting nonsense and claiming it their own. It's overall bad for them and the others. I actually kind of like to play beginner level games that may not have the polish, but have the spirit. Might actually get a higher score from me that way. Then again, there is the "report" button if foul play is suspected. That should be enough for sorting it out.
(Just my opinion here as well :) )

Yea I see what you are saying. It is a shame that so many games turned out to be asset flips.

I do tend to just play a little of a flip game just to see if there is any effort but most times i don't see enough.

I also agree with what you say about beginner level games. They can be fun if you look beyond the bugs or bad code etc and even inspire your own ideas.

Do you think they should of said no templates? or made it clear that a game has to have a certain amount changed or added for it to count?

I think asset flips are explicitly prohibited in the rules. But somehow these remaining ones have either found a way around, or yet undetected. The focus being on "just" an asset flip. I suppose we'll see if some are still dropped when the judges period starts.

I think templates are ok, when used properly within the rules.
