It's a fun idea! It felt like it should have been easier than it was, so maybe I'm bad at this one. :)

As others have noted, the rotation is a bit difficult to work with. However, binding it to mouse movement does also come with its own issues, speaking from personal experience. At least in a browser based game.

One thought I had was scoring different objects based on their difficulty to get into the spheres. For instance, cakes were very easy for me to line up, while carrots were one of the toughest. So you could have the smaller or more abnormally shaped items provide more points to reward dealing with them. Or not, it can also be an exercise for the player to consider whether or not they want to deal with the harder items or maximize their score by going for easy targets instead.
