Have you heard of 'impact games' before?  Those are games that are about more than just 'having fun' - they are about addressing real world challenges, issues, and learning. This game has such great potential to gamify learning about how computers work. It so much better than reading a COMPTIA textbook for example. The Aesthetics are easily 5 star. The music was so chilled and I loved exploring around the motherboard. I thought the command line interfaces were awesome and I loved how you replicated, for example, pinging home - great!

I think my ONLY gripe with the overall experience was the time pressure to do the tasks I was given. I failed a couple because I got lost so I felt that sense of pressure that kind of conflicted with the chilled relaxed time I was having with the music lol. It might be worth considering a target time to fix the computer that would encourage people to play again (and again) to improve their time but these are just my initial thoughts. Overall I loved this experience - thanks for creating it and putting it into this jam for us all to enjoy!

Wow, thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful comment! I really appreciate you bringing up "impact games" that’s exactly the kind of space I’d love Byte Medic to live in. I kinda wanted it to be more than just a fun game something that makes learning about how computers work feel exciting and accessible.

I totally hear you on the time pressure part, you're not alone in that feedback, and it's something I'm looking at reworking. I love your suggestion about having a target time to encourage replays rather than punish players for getting a bit lost.

There are definitely some exciting ideas in the works! I'm planning to expand the game into a whole network, with other devices you can travel to, like switches acting as main hubs, and eventually reaching places like printers, routers, and more. I want it to feel like a living, breathing ecosystem of tech, with plenty of fun and surprises along the way.

i also agree with the comment the person above made! I’m not good with tech at all really, and it was fun learning about the parts of a computer so props to you Legacy Games for making it super approachable! My siblings tried it too and loved playing!

you're most welcome. This is the kind of game I would love to see in my kids school for example and I could definitely see schools using it as a form of learning for kids and teens. I have a particular affinity for this because its one of the spin offs of my adopted studio name - Miniature Giants - kids are all miniature giants. Small today, but with the potential to be titans in the future, and these are the kinds of experiences that help them get there :) Really loved it and Im going to follow you so I can keep tabs on what you produce in the future!

Oh! And for the timing thing on the tasks - what comes to mind for me is the type of mechanic used in Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders for example. You have to go down a mountain and get a target time in order to unlock the next section of the mountain and there are around 5 stages. It keeps a track of all your stage times and lets you know where you're faster or slower, but so long as you hit the overall target you're good. Just a thought that came to me.
