I'm getting this error on startup, no option to skip.
Edit: 2 months later, I have found the solution for this particular JoiPlay error, on a Chinese forum.
In the JoiPlay launcher, longpress the game, then tap "edit" and set the type to "Renpy (python2)". If it still doesn't work, try the other options.
Oh, but DD's method worked fine, just adding this because I had it pop up on several other games too, and it might be useful to someone.
7.0-pc, from here on itch. I believe it was the Mediafire download, can't quite remember. I haven't tried multiple downloads of that version.
JoiPlay is updated with the latest free release from Nov. 2024, which should be able to handle Ren'Py 8.3.3.
I tried looking at the code, but all I could figure out is that I don't understand Renpy folders (00iconbutton.rpy isn't even in the /game folder like the error says, but /renpy/common), and that python syntax is too different from C++/Java for me to even guess what could be wrong with line 42.
I've reluctantly switched to the Android version for now. It works, it's fun, but well... you know how you fit it into 1.4GB. Either way, don't worry too much.
Seems like this is a pretty common error with Joiplay, sadly I haven't found how to solve it and I don't want to fix Joiplay because I have enough to worry about with the android version, but I understand that the compressed version is not for everyone. I have another solution as an experiment, though. Do you have a Discord where I can DM you? If you want to give it a try.
