I enjoyed this!  I liked the mechanics and it had depth and interesting decisionmaking while being very quick to pick up.  I found myself wishing there were rewards for defeating enemies, it was satisfying to clear a board but I wanted the game to give me something for it.  Against the giant enemy crab I just stormed straight thru and left the rest of the crab being (messed up!!).  Also I think I found two bugs, there was one in the first round that left me unable to move up into the final gold square, and then also I think the player character's power may persist between runs.  

Fun idea to explore more, nice work!

Thank you so much. This is valuable feedback. The explorer is a bald, white dude on a killing spree in the jungle (We're The Baddies), so I didn't want to incentivize killing even more, so it stays kind of a moral decision. But for a real game, this would be a must. I also planned on having a "Shop" where you could combine duplicate cards into a single, stronger one or sell duplicates for more valuable cards.
