This game is a really nice-looking, but I don't like the fact that the it tries to include its own built-in controller profiler. The one that's included doesn't allow you to attach moves like Jump and Attack to the D-pad. Profilers like JoyToKey are more flexible than this, so I can't help but wish that there was a way to disable the Control section altogether, and just let the keyboard defaults sit as they are.

Oh I'm glad you like the look of Primal Planet so far!

Yeah unfortunately you can't adjust controls for the d-pad and thumbstick movements on a gamepad. I'm doing my best to make it so that players can cusomize their own controls on both keyboard and gamepad, but for now the d-pad is reserved for movement only and can't be changed, sorry.

You mentioned that you wish that there was a way to disable the Control section altogether, and just let the keyboard defaults sit as they are. You can use the default keyboard control setup. If you've changed it from the default setup, you can always reset the controls in the controls menu and just use the default control setup, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

Thanks for sharing this issue!

Hey there. I did try resetting the controls, and I can say with certainty that resetting the Control section is not the same as disabling it. If I take a generic controller (iow, not an official Xbox or PlayStation one) the game will still impose its own generic control layout. I can also tell you what some of the impositions are. I found that movement was attached to some sort of "Stick 1". The Roll move was attached to Button 2. Bite was on 3. Local Map was on 5. Pause was on 7.

PC games don't need to understand what a controller is, in order to be controller-friendly. They only need controller code if they want the connectivity to be plug-and-play. Plug-and-play is a great concept for official Xbox and PS controllers, but I think generic plug-and-play is awful, because it extends too far. I can't take a generic controller, and create my own layout, through a profiler, like JoyToKey. That's why I wish I could disable the Control section.
