That the list currently has near 300 items is a coincidence. There are no slots on that list. It grows. It is not the 300 most popular/relevant/arbitrarily chosen tags.

I did go through your list, and I won’t be accepting any of the suggestions. Your suggestions are essentially merging things for the sake of merging things without any understanding of what the underlying content is. I think there appears to be a misunderstanding here: You have the goal of reducing the total number of tags for some reason. There is need to do that. We want to broaden what can be communicated about a project page with more specific tags, not less. It’s not helpful to force things that are somewhat related into a different tag.
I’ll address a few of your suggestions off the top of my head real quick but I’m not going to write up explanations for everything.
COMBINE: “Gacha” (375 total) + “Gacha Club” (100 total)
“Gacha” is a type of game that implements “gachapon” mechanics https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gacha_game
“Gacha Club” is a fan game made with a specific style of characters and gameplay inspired by Gacha games, you can view the original here: https://lunime.itch.io/gacha-club. Gacha Club has a fandom associated with it and there are many players looking specific for games and mods related to the original game, and are not looking for generic Gacha games.
Infinite Runner and Endless runner are nearly synonymous
An infinite runner is a specific kind of game where you are always running (typically to the right) and jumping over obstacles. There are user interfaces that are not graphical. A GUI is a specific kind of UI.
“Wild West” and “Western” also have so much overlap
Overlap is not a reason to remove a tag. “Wild West” represents a specific time era in the United States with a “Western” aesthetic. “Western” is a more broad term for things like cowboys, horses, 10 gallon hats, etc. with no specific reference to the period.
