[SUMMARY] πŸ“Š

Just Digging is a surprisingly fun and deep exploration action RPG game.

[GAME DESIGN] 🎲

The two bosses are very interesting to fight against and the exploratory nature of the game is surprisingly deep and well polished. The slimes could've been more thought out.

[FUN] 🀣

Had fun exploring and raged a lot against the bosses. The first minutes of gameplay are pretty bland, which could throw some players off. I'd work on the player speed, hit effects and the enemy AI.

Talks I recommend:

[INNOVATION] πŸ’‘

The laser boss struck me as very innovative. Zelda Breath Of The Wild mixed with the classic 2D ones. Kudos. The dungeon crawling part felt a bit too repetitive and established. I'd advise to integrate the theme into the game design a bit more to get some originality going.

[THEME]πŸ“–

It's there, and noone can argue against it. Same as above,  I'd advise to integrate the theme into the game design a bit more.

[GRAPHICS]🎨

Tiling effect well done, clear UI. I would have used only one artstyle for the game. If you have an artist, only use their work, even if it's not great. Art in games is a lot about consistency. I'd prefer a game with a not-great artstyle but consistent rather than a patched together work.

[AUDIO]πŸ”Š

Liked that there are two audio tracks, one for normal gameplay and one for the boss fights. My advice would be to make the sounds at home by yourself and experinmenting a bit with sound generation before going straight to bfxr to get full points in this aspect. I feel like bfxr woul've made sense in a more 8bit-ish game, not here. But overally, good work on the audio side.

[FINAL RATING]  πŸ₯‡

Very interesting boss fight and exploration, although a bit lacking on the graphics side.
