First off, great game! It was definitely cooked to near perfection. Well done for making this all in 1 week's worth of time! Great job team!
AUDIO
I found that the audio was really nice and soothing. It definitely complimented the chill but not so relaxed gameplay!
MINIGAMES
Another big thing that i think was the best implementation of was the minigames. The feel of actually like DOING the actions like chopping stuff up or cleaning the plates made it really immersive! Absolutely no complaints there! It was the best part about the game for me. It was also really responsive too, no jankiness about it.
FEEDBACK
Now, for the feedback.
MAIN MENU
I think the main menus ui could definitely use some polishing up. I have a feeling it mightve been rushed due to time crunch? Who knows :> If it had the sameish aesthetics as the artstyle did in game, the main menu would look and feel great! In its current implementation, it just feels disconnected from everything else and like out of place.
TUTORIAL
I personally think the tutorial videos were definitely a great idea, being able to see all the actions visually shown instead of only walls of text was good, but it unfortunately still fell into a bit of complexity and my brain just couldnt soak up that much info in such a short time :)
I think that if there were some playable tutorial levels just going through each aspect of the game itd help ease the players in more. As of right now it still took me a few games to figure out exactly what each thing did and where to find everything.
MOVEMENT
Another small thing that i encountered was the movement of the player, arrow keys are nice but id also love the option of having wasd. Its a small thing but definitely would feel nice cause i rarely use the arrow keys so was kinda sluggish :>
But thats just a small thing, the bigger more prominent issue was lining up to do the tasks and actions, itd very often feel like i needed to be insanely lined up to be able to interact with certain items. would love if itd be smoother by being able to interact with certain actions like taking orders and more without having to be basically pixel perfect in the same grid square cause thats sometimes hard with how much the player moves in a one button press. Makes doing things feel more clunky when you struggle to interact with them despite being right in front of them.
DIFFICULTY RAMP
Now finally to conclude this wall of text. I think the difficulty of the game could be mildly lowered. I found it hard to even get a consistently good rating of over 3 stars throughout the game. It felt like the amount of customers was just overbearing compared to how long each action takes. Perhaps the waiting time for each customer could be increased, maybe shorter action times for fixing appliances, or maybe you could even have more prep time during the closing hours. I liked the idea of being able to quickly prepare for the next day while the place was closed, however it just felt too short. Especially when the dishes start piling up :] Ah we love doing the dishes dont we! Doing them one at a time especially having to walk all the way to the counter for each one felt a bit too long though :(
WE DONE :)
But that concludes the feedback! Don't worry, game isnt as bad as i mightve accidentally made it out to be in this comment! I still loved the game a lot and sunk in a decent amount of time having fun :> Really wonderful game for a week long jam, if yall ever decide to continue working on this post-jam i think itd be a banger! Love the thumbnail btw, friends definitely got u >:)
