It's a pretty interesting submission. You obviously did a lot and went for a very ambitious project, which is awesome, but is also very hard to pull off. There are a few things that I would change a little though: the screen pulsates from bright to dark, all the time. This makes it borderline impossible for me to see anything when it's dark. Grabbing onto ledges could have a bit of a bigger snap-on area, because right now it feels like I often can't get it to snap. Please add a reticle/ crosshair of some sort, as it's pretty hard to aim right now! Especially the grappeling hook. And also, the grappeling hook didn't always seem to shoot out straight in from of me, sometimes it would just go at an upward angle.

Anyway, that was just a bit of feedback. The graphics are really quite something and killing enemies is super satisfying! They're pretty scary and the sound effects add to that a lot! The bunnyhopping and gaining momentum was also really cool once I got the hang of it, although I found it easier indoors than with floating platforms like in the tutorial. Good job on this game and I hope you will expand, develop and keep working on this game :D

thanks! I tested the grapple with a lot of debug markers and what I found is that while it shoots in front when you hit the button, the end doesn't follow you down, and as such, it can look like it's going off in the wrong way, which is compounded by the perspective of the beam extending. I'll be adjusting the grapple hook heavily in the patch, among other changes - if you're interested in playing the updated version, feel free to follow me to get notified :)

Ahh, that makes sense, it also explains why it always happends when I was moving super quickly/ flying. Will follow you! Good luck man!

Really needs an automatic reload, tried to shoot a lot of times without knowing why i couldnt. One of the best looking games on the jam, or at least the ones i ve played till now. Like Stefanc23 said, a crosshair would be a great addition, but for a 1 week development it is nice! Got bugged on the tutorial with the grappling hook, where you press the shift key for the first time, i died, and started spawning me all the time falling off a cliff, so had to play the tutorial 2 times. Good job anyways!

Developer

thanks! I'll definitely fix auto reload, and a crosshair (+ grapple auto aim) is already on the horizon for the post jam patch, as well as a fix for the conservation of speed when you respawn at checkpoints (although I saw a really cool speedrun skip done with this, haha)
