If a small part of the cutscenes were written last year, can it still count for this jam?

Hi!

I have a script (only for cutscene dialogue) that I started sometime last year, but only a couple scenes. A few days ago, I nearly finished it, so the bulk of it was done this year. The game itself has not been made. Would making a game with this cutscene script, even if part of it was written last year, still be accepted for Decade Jam? Thank you ^^

Thank you for asking!

That all sounds like it's in the spirit of the jam. If you'd be willing, it might be nice to include a little disclaimer note to explain that the script was made before the jam and then how it's implemented in the game!

Best of luck!

Thank you for replying!

Sure. I can add that little bit, would be fun to explain how this new project came to be. Only a small section was written before it anyway and no actual game project exists (I actually wrote the scene draft in a notebook whilst I was bored at the laundromat, lol). Originally this was meant to be a bonus sidequest in one of my RPGs, but it didn't fit, so I nearly scrapped it. Now, I re-did it a little, fleshed it out, and nearly have the cutscene dialogues written out and decided for it to be its own game 6 months later~

That's really great! The laundromat story is fantastic.

And no worries! All the tools we use were made before the jam so it's not an issue (:
