I got to say, the ice world is pretty hardcore. but I think it's doable. Got a lot of inspiration from Metroid on NES and that too, is hardcore. But I understand. Though, it already released physically and everything so I will never update this game. : )
I wouldn't really call Metroid 1 hardcore, it's just dickish with health in general until you get the Screw Attack, at which point it's fairly smooth. Pretty skewed difficulty curve, that one.
