Hello!

The first week of Icehouse Jam is over! Have you been working well on your projects? Did you succeed to build your team?

This week has been seemingly quiet, but don't be mistaken: a lot of things happened behind the scenes. We have no doubt that the 150 participants who joined the Jam have been brainstorming hard and started to build things!

Here's a quick selection of the first WIP pictures that were posted on Discord by some of you in the jam-showcase room. Of course a lot more will be revealed during weeks 2 and 3, where we might even start to discover some gameplay ideas, music, etc. So stay tuned!

Project of paperjack

Project of x3lq

Project of yben

Can you guess which legend/myth has been illustrated above in each case? You can join our Discord at any time to ask their creators!
They might also be looking for more talented people to join their teams?

We really want to thank all the participants, with a very special thanks to the above Jammers who accepted to show their creations and made our channel much more lively than usual! :)
We have no doubt that you will continue to work hard to improve your games and try to win one of our prizes! Keep up the good work everyone, and don't forget to share your WIP images from time to time for the next update to come on next week.

In addition, the following pics are from games that are currently being created by the Icehouse members for the occasion. They will of course be out of competition (it wouldn't be fair for the other participants!) but we do them for the fun and we really hope you'll find them interesting and/or inspiring, and that you'll want to play them. See you next week!

Yeah, and sorry for the participants who posted on Twitter, itchio devlog or any other place than Discord, and who are not listed above. It was convenient to make this list today based on the recent Discord activity, but I'm sure that there are several other great creations that we might have missed (such as the nice game of Naps on Twitter).

If you're curious to see more creations, please make a search with the jam hashtag #IcehouseJam2019 and I'm sure you'll discover more interesting projects :) Or just wait for the next summary on the next Friday: we will try to do better than that!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

I'm very impressed. Lots of extraordinary talent here, I don't know if my project will stand a chance.

But I have put in a fair amount of effort on mine already. I am at that stage where I am trying to be ambitious but not too ambitious, which is to say I need to prioritize what is important and what isn't because time is limited. Not everything I want to do will work out but hopefully it will be good enough to win a prize of some sort.

My project was one of the less developed rough ideas which I had going into the jam, and perhaps not the best, but it was the concept most fitting the pair of themes. And now that I have dug into it a bit more, I think it has a lot of potential.

But it is short, and limited in scope, due to time limitations. I am going for quality over quantity here and I hope that a somewhat short and easy to complete game will stand a chance.

I will be posting some of my work in the next two days, sorry I haven't done so already.

Hi matthornb, don't worry about quantity, indeed quality is more important. We know that in a Jam most of the games will be short or unfinished, this is just normal. If, after the Jam, you like your project and found some potential in it, then maybe you will want to continue it. We're looking forward to discover your first pics!
