Nice work! Since the puddles are an important mechanic, maybe you can make them do something when you land in them to give the player positive feedback and let them know they're playing correctly. (Like a splashing animation, or a simple color change effect, etc)

Great job. I think it could have used collectables randomly spawning for points or something like that to have a reason to not just stand in the center puddle jumping.

Pretty good looking visuals. I was a bit lost when playing but after playing for a minute I think I knew what was going on. I dont think it matched the theme much and am not sure what the green bar was but I still found myself hopping like my froggy-life depended on it. :)

An important feature of short games is the feeling of compulsion and you got it.

Developer

Thanks! The green bar was for the players health but I didn't have time to add dying.

Fun game! I just wish I knew what the goal was here. I'm not sure if there's a score counter or something so I know what's going on. Otherwise, good work.

Pretty fun, it would be awesome to have a score counter or something like that :)

fun , but I don't really see how it fits the theme?

Developer

I didn't have a lot of time to think since i had only 3 hours, and it said unconventional movement so I came up with the idea of a frog jumping from puddle to puddle to avoid heating up.

Nice! I like the colour effect when you leave the water! :)

Cute game, with cool sound effects. I don't get the green bar at the top though.  you made it with python and without game engine, right? amazing job then :)

Developer

Thanks! The game was made with python and the module pygame. The green bar at the top is for health but I didn't have time to add player death :/

The frog is really cute, did you draw it during the jam? :O

I had a hard time understanding how it relates to the theme tho.

But anw, jumping is always fun and the sound effect adds character to the little froggy.

Thanks! I used a premade frog asset from here: https://levitigus.itch.io/cute-frog-sprite

For the theme, I didn't really had a lot of time to think since i had only 3 hours, however it said unconventional movement and I came up with the idea of a frog jumping from puddle to puddle to avoid heating up, that's why when you aren't in a puddle your speed and jump speed decreases(also the frog's color becomes more yellowy to indicate that it's heating up).

Very nice, i just think you should have clampled the pleyer to the screen and mabey added a score i know you were on a time limit and i like it, Very cute!

Developer

Thanks, I was gonna add those features too but i saw that it was about like 5 minutes to the end of the 3 hour deadline so I quickly compiled and uploaded the game!
