Welcome to Tree Jam 2025! Whether you're a seasoned developer or just getting started, this jam is your opportunity to explore. You will be given a total of three weeks to develop your games (preferably in a team of 2-4). Criteria and submission details are listed below.
Note: This game jam is being hosted for the 2025 iteration of CS42SI, an introductory-level game design course at Stanford.
Your game should incorporate the concept of "Overflow" in some meaningful way. Whether literally or metaphorically, feel free to interpret this theme however you'd like. There are no wrong ways to approach this theme. You will have the opportunity to explain your game's relation to the theme upon submission.
Games will be rated on the following criteria:
Fun factor, game feel, and overall player experience
Originality and innovative interpretation of "Overflow"
How well "Overflow" is woven into your game's core
Quality of art and overall presentation
Range of mechanics implemented and lack of bugs affecting experience
Quality of sound design (music or sound effects)
The voting phase will be open to the public, and scores will be determined based on others' ratings and feedback.
In your game page, please update the description to have instructions on mechanics and controls. Additionally, credit all team members and any external assets in your project.
Additionally, on submission, you will have to submit a brief sentence about your game and its relation to the theme. Do not wait until the last minute to submit, since you will need to include this information too.
✨ Remember to have fun! ✨
Love, the CS42SI Teaching Team
