It was kind of annoying and hand-tiring to have to click at every punctuation mark instead of being able to show the whole textbox at once, and the bobbing was a little aggressively fast sometimes, but every other piece of this was perfect. The character designs are adorable, the art is phenomenal, the writing is sweet and heartfelt, the bobbing is super cool (it's in-engine?! how the hell !! and it matches the bpm omg), and the music is great. 10/10 game
Thank you for the feedback! In the game, under Preferences, setting the text speed to 100% removes the pauses after punctuation.
oh hell yeah. i wasn't sure if that would do it since the pauses seemed, like, Extra? i haven't seen them before at least. but that's good to know :>
The writing would already be impressive by itself, but all-custom art too? This is a lot of work to do in a month, even for a two-person team. The apartment seems nice and cozy, and the two main characters are cute and have very unique designs. The unique biology(?) of the two characters also comes up in a lot of small ways, which I thought was great.
Your project features a good mix of plot, emotional stuff, and horny. It's a small-scale, slow-paced, emotionally driven experience, and I think you got that pretty much exactly right.
One small bit of criticism: I found some of the text a little hard to read. The contrast between text and background isn't super high, and it's in all-caps. A lot of that comes down to personal preference, though, and it was never a big problem.
Overall, I had a really good time with your kinetic novel, and I'd love to see more from the characters and the setting.
Four-ish people, actually! Myself and Ramble wrote the game script in various pieces as inspiration came, and later I edited it all together as Ramble built it into engine (That cool headbob animation is all in engine- the guy's some kind of wizard), but as we did that, NastySwirls was our phenomenally impressive artist who was creating the beautifully designed characters, background art, and each of the CGs! Their creativity and visualization of that unique biology was a huge part of what made this game all come together.
Wachi was also a friend of Ramble's who did most of the music; I'm not sure how much of it was made specifically for us because they never officially joined the team channel, but they're pretty prolific in my opinion, too!
It's just neither of them have itch.io accounts, so they're all credited on the main game page instead.I really enjoied the art style, the characters and the story.
The pacing felt a little too slow for my taste. But that's 100% objective.
It's impressive that you manage this much in the time given, well done.
Oh my, it's incredibly well made and fully polished in its presentation! The artwork is wonderful and the character designs are intriguingly original with a wide variety of poses and animations. There's plenty of unique art for the sexual encounters and even a selection of backgrounds to give a real sense of space!
Some of the music tracks, especially the ones with vocals felt a little at odds with the narrative for me. They fit the game's tone well, but slightly overpower the text.
You've made excellent use of the Renpy engine with various text effect, custom colors for different speakers, speech sounds, pauses and even a few mid-speech animations. The writing itself was heartfelt and really let the reader get to know the characters and their personalities. At times I felt like it stayed a little long on the same topic. I sometimes struggle in text games with no choices, but all of the visual touches did a lot to keep me engaged and attentive!
This is a fantastic amount to finish in a month! It's very complete, has a lot going on both visually and textually, and is refined with a wide variety of effects. Amazing work!
Loved the characters, loved the story, and damn… so many kinks packed into one playthrough. Awesome sauce 👍
