Love the music! Looking forward for chapter 3. Hope nothing bad happens to anyone :)

Developer

Hey, thank you so much, and thanks for taking the time to play 😊

Love those 80s slasher vibes, where you're screaming at the heroes for all the bad decisions they're making except this time you have to scream at yourself because YOU'RE the one making them.  xD  It was just starting to get good, too; hope to see it finished!

Thank you so much! I have big ideas for the plot so I wanted to take it slow at first! :)

Love me some Americana horror, and you really nailed that tone. The art style with the black and white is unusual and distinctive. The characters have strong, distinct voices and they definitely feel like that group of former college friends we all did a road trip with that one time. My main issues are just technical: The looping backgrounds sometimes don't loop properly, and the font is kind of hard to read.

Developer

Hey, thank you so much for your feedback!

The loops drove me nuts - I've looked into some ways to make them smoother so I'm going to be trying that out! And the text was definitely a filler for what I initially was inspired by - FF Blur.

Thanks again for playing and taking time to leave a review :)

Yeah, those are super minor issues for a jam game. The important stuff was all working really well.

Check out my entry too: https://itch.io/jam/spooktober-vn-jam-2022/rate/1690696

I really enjoyed the car animation in your game! I think the black and white aesthetic of the backgrounds  worked quite well and fit the story.

Plot structure seems to work, I am definitely curious what might happen in further chapters. I had a bit of trouble to keep track of all the characters in my mind as there was lots of them, at least for a relatively short story. I can see it working once there are more chapters though.

You probably have already noticed but a small nitpick: The text is sometimes overflowing from the text box.

Also you might want to check your UI color scheme, as selected entries with white text are hard to see:

Other than that no technical issues. Use or Renpy is always appreciated. You even made a custom icon for the game!

All in all decent work for a solo-project.

Thank you for making this game!

Hey, than k you so much for the feedback!

I definitely was worried about introducing all the characters at once, I think for the finished project I will take longer to introduce them; and I did notice the text getting close on a few, didn't see it going over, so that's definitely a coding bit I need to figure out!

And thank you for the feedback on the menu! I customized the external one without thinking about the affect on the in-game one!

Again thank you for taking the time to play and let me know what you thought :)
