Dark, creepy and genuinely scary at times! Working retail is horrifying at times. The ending made me so happy though. I was really glad they found a way to make it all work.
Also I loved the art and the atmosphere that you created.
Great job and I can't wait to see what you do next!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the VN. Of course, any follow-up will lack the twist of the original but I'll do my best.
A heartfelt message regarding how easy it is to slip into a dark place when the world drives all the f**ks out of you.
Also, ice cream heals all.
Thanks for playing my VN, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish ice cream was a little more effective... or a little less calorie dense.
A wonderful dark game! Difficult to talk about without giving spoilers but I really loved exploring the house and what was there was super effective. The design was on point and I loved the ending! Great work and well done!
Thank you! I'm still going back and forth between either revising the original to include stuff cut for time or writing a sequel. I'll need to get in some more practice with Ren'py.
You've built a nice lore behind the real estate and haunting arrangements, so a sequel would definitely be interesting 😁
A pleasant surprise! This game was really refreshing; while there's some delightfully creepy monsters and scares, the true horror is in the day-to-day life, the all too relatable mundane that constantly wears us down. Who wouldn't risk a haunted house when it pales in comparison to everyday life? I loved the black and white visuals, and your use of sound was great! Some parts here really managed to startle me. Love the art as well!
There's some things in this that really surprised me in a good way. I had a really fun time going through this one, and I hope you plan on making more VNs in the future; you have a real talent for it!
Thank you! It's great to get feedback on some of the intended-creepier parts because I don't have much of a sense of what's scary anymore. I'm still torn on revisiting the game and polishing up some elements (as well as having the mundane element's impact on your attributes more obvious) and making a sequel where you meet other ghosts.
This was a lot of fun :D It wasn't long before I found myself excited to see what lurking horrors I was gonna encounter next!
Aaaand having been a slave in the retail sector in the past, I can say for certain I would much rather go face all that freaky stuff than spend another second working on tills serving customers x3 even if I repeatedly had the crap scared outta me for real, haha. Anything is better than the crushing depression of working retail T_T
I really don't wanna spoil story stuff for anyone, so I will just say that in the ending I got, the twisty stuff put a big smile on my face :3
It's insanely incredible that you managed to make something so awesome as your first-ever visual novel and as a solo project too!! Add on the fact that it was also your first game jam and yet you still managed to get it all done by the jam deadline and you can colour me beyond impressed. The art is gorgeous, the story is a lot of fun, and your music choices are spot-on as well :3
I sincerely hope you gave yourself one heck of a pat on the back and treated yourself to some tasty food cos you've created a gem here ^-^
A fine little game about the crushing depression of lower class suburban and urban life contrasted and confronted by the oddities of true supernatural entities, to say nothing of the direction the story takes. It's a fun ride and I genuinely recommend it.
