How did you choose to implement the Theme: Tavern Stories in your game?
You decide who carries on the tavern's legacy by giving them the ring. Each person has a story that you play through, so the game ended up being super dialogue and cutscene-heavy.
Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
I ended up including all three, in a sense. The ring is the main narrative thread, each patron has a story with the tavern, and there's a mechanic where you have to tell a lie from the truth.
Does your game contain AI-generated assets?
No

Following up on my last comment, I got to play it by copying the game files into an empty RPG Maker MV project. With this method, I was able to deploy the game and run the deployed version. Let me know if you need help!
I understand you started pretty late into the jam, so it's hard to give feedback. It's an interesting premise, and it had the beginnings of a promising story. I could see it developing into a really compelling mystery. Your writing style kept me invested. I also respect the high fantasy UI aesthetic and the BG3 references. I'd have liked it if you continued updating past the deadline, entered this as a late submission, or both, at least to flesh out that first story or give us a second story for comparison.
I hope this experience doesn't discourage you from making more games and joining more jams. Learn by doing!
Hey, I wanted to give this game a try, but I wasn't able to run it. Nothing seems to happen when I open the game.exe file. I'm on Windows 11. Also tried running as administrator and in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
Just to be clear: you want to delete the files from the deployed game folder (not your original one). I described the process over here if you want more detail.
Apparently the game itself ended up being too big T-T
I encountered the same problem too. What we did is we deployed the game, then deleted all the json files that allow you to load characters into the character generator. It might work for you, just make sure you have a backup copy of the game in case it doesn't work.
I used Game Character Hub for all of my sprites, but I'll definitely keep that in mind.
I really did want to put up a browser version, but there were too many files. :(
