Simple but effective! I was definitely engaged to see where the story was going (and the multiple endings function works well). I think the rooms between the sneaking sections might benefit from more of the story/memories unfolding, rather than the exposition at the end(at least I assume it was an actual end since credits rolled). The gameplay itself was a bit less exciting, sneaking was straightforward enough and works, but a bit repetitive. Overall, definitely interesting conceptually (and impressively made given the time crunch)!
n.b. the excession save files in the browser version (did I miss a big twist? or were those just left in by accident?)
What a masterpiece! Truly, I felt like I had stumbled upon the hidden gospel of game jams. The story? Exquisite. I devoured every ending like a starving philosopher seeking truth at the bottom of a wine glass. Even the “failed” outcome felt like a poetic tragedy—chef’s kiss.
Also, the scene with the man and the “king”? I imagined him with the voice of a velvet-cloaked nobleman—calm, trustworthy, gently persuasive—until the drama erupts, and suddenly we’re in a Shakespearean climax. Divine.
I was possessed by the need to replay it and uncover everything, like some cursed scholar in search of forbidden lore. I’m still recovering from how invested I became.
To summarize:
⭐ Theme – Sublime
⭐ Gameplay – A dance of simplicity and brilliance
⭐ Engagement – I forgot to blink
⭐ Presentation – A humble disguise for a divine artifact
Wow thank you for such high praise! Nice to see your prose is not reserved only for your game dialogue 😀
Glad you enjoyed playing it so much.
Wooooaaaahhhhh this one was great!
I love the story. I got all of the one endings and the failed outcome one but unsure about how to get the rest. It sorta reminded me of in Katana ZERO when Zero is talking to the psychiatrist and uncovering the events of his life. You should consider expanding the story or atleast making something that builds off the concept because this was awesome. I liked replaying to get all the endings. I dont know why, but I imagined the man speaking to the "king" to have a sort of "trustable" and "soft" demeanour before getting mad.
For theme, 5 stars because I never knew what to expect. 4 on the gameplay because it was simple yet effective although is a bit repetitive. 5 on engagement because I was very intrigued and wanted to know what would happen next. 3 for presentation because it isnt bad but it is just RTP. A Wonderful game. It should get a winning title. Have a good day and good luck in the jam
Wow! Thank you so much for your kind words. I didn't expect to get such a reaction so I'm glad you appreciate what I was trying to do. The guide definitely is gentle but at a sort of unsettling level. I wanted you to feel unsure if you could trust them. I wanted more time to really flesh out the story so I think I will go back and polish it up once the jam is over. Glad you wanted to get more endings! I really appreciate you sharing your ratings and thank you for playing and enjoying the game!
I really liked the dream sequences where things manifest in real time. It's a really cool affect. I wasn't the biggest fan of having to sneak past about 5 rooms of enemies that get progressively faster and more difficult to avoid. I feel like it could've gotten the point across with 3 rooms. It was a little frustrating and towards the end I chose to attack and I got locked into the (I forgot what it was called) over extension ending. It wasn't a very long game so it wasn't the most tedious game ever. But again those dream events where things manifest in real time was really really rad.
Edit: Also I think this is impressive given how little time you worked on it and how close you were to the deadline.
Thank you so much for your review! The last section was definitely the most rushed part. I wanted the sneak sections to be much more thought out with the room layouts creating difficulty rather than just speeding everyone up. I'm glad you liked the manifesting effect, as with limited time I was glad I could create a cool effect like that. Thanks so much for playing and taking the time to share your thoughts!
