Just a heads up as i noticed you got the same bot comment most of us are getting; blocking them doesnt delete their comments. Ill delete my comment telling you this after you see this. Anyway, the game looks pretty good! Good luck on the jam

Oh this was really cute!
The art was really cute and simple and the story was great! My only complaint is the punctuation was a bit off but that didn't throw me off too much. I really liked the ending it was very sweet and the story was very clear and easy to understand. The characters are really cool, especially Kareta. I did guess a plot point pretty early on but that didn't ruin the experience and sorta made it better so I could see the game out to the end and figure out if my point was right. The environments could use a bit more sprinkle like plants and weeds on the ground but that's alright. I liked the end scene with the mended heart and I think the story was great
Theme gets a five as it was a nice game with a slight surprise at the end and the meaning that not all people are what you expect, Gameplay gets a three because there wasn't much but it was still good as a visual novel more so then an RPG, Engagement gets a four because there wasn't much gameplay engagement but the story kept me going, and presentation gets a five because the visuals were pretty interesting. I think more people should play this game! Have a good day and good luck with the jam
Thank you for playing Im glad you like it!
Im very sorry you couldn't finish the game. I cant update the game right now because when the jam starts you can edit files but I did find a user fix online you could attempt if you would like to finish the game https://github.com/rpgtkoolmv/corescript/pull/191/files
Anyway, I will address the full review now. Im very happy the art style is well liked among alot of the players! I also did the lighting and bgs myself so Im happy thats good too. About the story; I know Ive said this many times in other responses, but I dont think It ever gets clearer at any point. To be fair, I give the MC's motive an explanation at the end but Im not sure if executed it all too well. We had a rough draft of a story (that was mostly inspired by other stuff) that I only took a few scraps out of, then made new characters to put into it, and had to work out everything from there with a very small amount of time. If you have any questions storywise, Lumi and I can answer them later. But I do, to some extent, explain everything by the last floor. So if you want some clarity on the story, then maybe give that script fix a try until I can actually fix the project myself. Not sure if it'll truly clear all of it up as I mentioned though
Anyway, I'm very happy you enjoyed our game so much. Thank you! Have a good day and good luck with the jam
Oh this was a cool rpg demo
My question is did you make this demo for the game jam or did you crop up your main game and then submit it? Besides that, I do have some criticisms and some praises. I'd like to start with criticisms usually because I dont want to end this review on a sour note. Firstly, I want to say the mapping is pretty nice but there were alot of huge empty spaces that could be filled up with maybe fences, fountains, or other buildings to create a better atmosphere. If your unsure what to do, What I usual do is look at sample maps and maps from other games I like. The characters were really cool but I feel like I never truly understood them much. I think It's more of a "show don't tell" thing where I'd rather like to know these characters based on what they do, how they act, and their mannerisms rather then have them tell me. I know that doesnt usually make sense but I dont know how else to phrase it. I also feel like the same went for the story where even with the exposition I didn't really understand and its much more preferred by players to have the characters imply whats going on rather then have scrolling text. The music was a bit overwhelming and played alot. Also the dogs non-stop chasing was a bit tiring
Ok onto what I liked. Firstly, even if its rtp, the character face sprites were really nice and stylistic. The main three have alot of personality from the faces alone and I like that. I also found those three to be quite charming and interesting characters. I think it'd be a bit better to have expressive face sprites, though. Which can be well achieved with little photo editing knowledge in a program like paint by just drawing on different mouth's and eyebrow's for different expressions. The combat was very cool and had some interesting mechanics I liked. The characters have some funny dynamics and the battles were well thought out. Also, the cutscenes were very lively and interesting. The mapping was nice and I liked the cohesive look of the area and the tutorials explained the gameplay very well. If you don't have any artists, note that there is alot of free rpgmaker assests made by other users incase you wanted to add a bit more to your maps. And using some plugins to change the UI around + free artwork and patterns from online could add an extra pop to your visuals. An extra sprinkle of visual is lighting plugins but thats about it. The game was pretty fun even though its short and I thought it was pretty interesting
2 for theme because I dont think it conveyed the theme of the jam and the story wasnt all that understandable, a 4 in gameplay for the excellent and unique battle experience, engagement gets a four because for rpg fans this gameplay could be very fun to play with, and a three for presentation because it was just RTP but it was nice visually. I hope the full project goes smoothly for you and your game comes out well. Have a good day and good luck in the jam
Wooooaaaahhhhh this one was great!
I love the story. I got all of the one endings and the failed outcome one but unsure about how to get the rest. It sorta reminded me of in Katana ZERO when Zero is talking to the psychiatrist and uncovering the events of his life. You should consider expanding the story or atleast making something that builds off the concept because this was awesome. I liked replaying to get all the endings. I dont know why, but I imagined the man speaking to the "king" to have a sort of "trustable" and "soft" demeanour before getting mad.
For theme, 5 stars because I never knew what to expect. 4 on the gameplay because it was simple yet effective although is a bit repetitive. 5 on engagement because I was very intrigued and wanted to know what would happen next. 3 for presentation because it isnt bad but it is just RTP. A Wonderful game. It should get a winning title. Have a good day and good luck in the jam
Very fun little simulator game!
Tried to make sure the little cat had a good life. Making games but also taking care of her (her? Well, the cat is a player so I call her a girl) self. The cat was happy, the game was 70% done, apparently it got complaints but atleast my little cat game dev was happy and thats all I could want. I can't say it was very prominent with the theme so I gave the theme two, but everything else was amazing! a five for the fun gameplay, a five for the fact i was very engaged in this little cats life, and a five for the very pretty and simple artwork. a very nice game indeed. extra note; it seems this game may have a bit of personal connection with the developer. If so, then I hope all is going well for you n all. A cloud of rain always comes by to ease a drought. Besides that, I hope to see more fun games from you in the future. goodluck with the jam and have a good day.
These kinds of games are not really my style but I played it anyway and it was a bit fun! Didn't finish it though because more open games like this with no clear objective get a bit overwhelming for me personally
The art is very nice. I was a bit confused on why some NPCs had talking sprites and others didnt but that isnt a problem. It did feel a bit directionless at times but I liked exploring the town and talking to people. The logic based puzzles seem to be pretty well formatted. The daytime music was a bit overwhelming to me personally and just seems like it doesnt exactly fit the vibe but it did bring a sense of energetic energy to the game. So overall I thought it was a nice game and maybe with a bit of objective added later on this could be a nice town-sim. But even besides that it still is a very nice town-sim with great artworks and an interesting concept. Four stars for theme as many things beyond your expectations seem to be brewing under the surface. 3 for gameplay because I liked wandering around. 2 for engagement because I was a bit lost and during the beach magic thing I didn't feel like I needed to talk to everyone there. 4 for presentation because the graphics relay the idea of the game quite well. Overall, this is a very nice game. And Maybe after the jam you could expand on it. Good luck in the jam and have a good day
Wow, what a nice game!
First of all, a note for the artist of the game; you did very well with the artwork! And it was a pleasant surprise to find out you are an Arab Muslim (because me too) but I also could've guessed from your username being Hummus. (maybe eating Hummus might make me a better artist?) Now, I'm not sure if he also did the sprites. I find the sprite work very simple and charming, but also a bit stiff. Try experimenting with the edges by erasing the rough sharp bits (like when you make a square in pixel art and its got a sharp corner just erase that on some parts you want to appear softer)
Now for the game itself; I liked it alot! It was certainly beyond my expectations as I have to guess what to do to find each thing. My only complaint is the chasing enemies do not EVER stop chasing which make the maze somewhat impossible for me. But that might be my only complaint. I really liked the quiet atmosphere of having to guess the way to obtain what everyone wants as opposed to having it told me clearly. Its also the kind of story where I feel like I can put together an idea of whats going on instead of a clear idea and I like that very much. I see the story as a girl who's dreaming and only has 16 minutes to attend to all the people of the dream. It was very charming and very unique. I hope to see such a concept explored in the future again. Overall; I gave you 4 stars for the theme as it fits in quite nicely, 4 stars for the gameplay because despite the lack of words i was rarely confused and its very cool you pulled that off, 4 stars for engagement because it caught my attention for every quest, and 3 stars for presentation because the simple style and the artwork from Hummus are very wonderful and lovely but the pixel art was a bit rough. Very amazing game from Stirkexd and Hummus! I wish you both luck in the jam. This game deserves top five!
thank you for playing!
The plugin I used for the title is Moghunter's title particles. But I did make the title screen image myself using a combination of free ibispaint materials so I'm glad you like it :) I'm very happy to hear my artwork and visuals are nice and I'll also pass that on to Lumi who did the mini character sprites. I did use some of Com-Sho's tilesets in the project but I assume they mix well with the RTP and I'm also glad to know you like the mapping I did. I understand the story isn't very clear but that's because me and Lumi had to rush it a bit as we started planning about a week before the start of the jam so if you have any questions you can ask and I'll answer them with Lumi when we are able to (maybe after the results of the jam we'll do a devlog) also can you spefifcy what you meant by mind map thing? I presume it's something with Monroe and I just want to confirm. And im happy to hear you learned new things from this game and I'm glad you like the battles
Anyway I'll fix the bugs you speak of very very soon. Thank you for your review and your nice words. I wish you luck in the jam. Sorry for the long post, I like to respond to all points made usually
as someone who's joined a couple jams before I don't think your missing anything I think the guy just forgot to update the theme. If there's a discord for the jam (which usually is the case and is linked on the jam page) you can ask or maybe it's only been updated for the discord server. But idk so I'll take like 3 second to check and edit my reply
Update: no server. I'm not sure about the jam-holders timezone so maybe they're just asleep and will probably wake up soon
Ooh interesting! I suppose girls like that can be horror protagonists...your artwork is very nice by the way and thank you for answering as i was a bit puzzled :) anyway if its a question youve answered ill probably take it down cuz u hate to ask a question thats been asked over and over, but maybe you should add a note in your profile bio explaining it so people dont have to ask so much anymore. Best of luck with your games! ^.^
I guess that's true, I was just hoping for an answer from him as I'm curious cuz I don't think him liking it is the main reason. I've always been reluctant to play his games because of such physics but from what I see it doesn't seem to be the focus so it's probably not because he's into it that much 🤔 but considering I haven't got an answer I'm just gonna assume my question was offensive and take it down soon >~> I wish him the best of luck though
ive always had a question for you but i thought it wasnt appropriate to ask such things; why do your characters usually have such big chests? is it to make your work stand out? to lure certain people in? im not accusing you of being a degenerate, but i am just curious because it seems not to matter to the games and i'll probably delete my comment once i get an answer.
in capcut, record your lines in a high pitch little girl voice [if your a guy or your voice sounds weird going high, then just add the high voice filter] then go to voice filters. you can choose megaphone or lo-fi but i only recommend megaphone if your voice is too quiet because megaphone makes it louder.
