This is funny, and also pretty surrealist. Isn't Internet rule n°34 : "if a thing exist, a procgen version of this thing must exist ?" The shelves content also seems to be procgen too. The overall color and design choice make this bedrooms very childish in my eyes, remembering me those adhesive fluorescent stars we put on the ceiling of child bedrooms too (sweet memories).
I wonder in how much time you made this, and don't worry about asset reuse. This year I also reuse some sound FX I made for my procjam 2023 entry :)
BTW, I think this bedroom must have the luminosity of a star by itself :
I remember those stars too! Funny thing is I had my father remove them shortly after having them installed because they made me anxious and I could not sleep well with them :-/
The bulk of the code was written during the two weekends of the jam, however I would say close to 70% of what I did during the first one was thrown out/not used since I originally just wanted to generate beds but struggled to actually put something that looks interesting enough to me. The whole bedroom thing was a (very)last minute change of direction...
It's so funny when you generate a room and think "That actually looks nice" and consider what it would be like, other times you get two lamps side by side. The curtain raising and lowering effect between generations is very satisfying.
Yeah, I ended up not having the time to add stronger constraint on the furniture selection part, it is basically random aside from ensuring a bed and trying to place a night-stand next to it.
Thanks for noticing the transition effect! It took me longer to implement than I am willing to admit because this part of my code is very messy...
Such a fun approach to the jam! I love how surrealist these scenes often are. A room with strange colors and an even stranger layout floating through space. Beautiful work! :]
Thanks for the comment! I started by wanting to generate only beds, but struggled to make them interesting and varied, so I pivoted to creating simple room layouts with a few more pieces of furniture. All along I was reusing code and assets (the starry skybox) from last year's project, and being constrained by time I figured "Well, space is a cold place after all" :-)

I love the color pallet! I included it in my compilation video series for the jam:
"In space nobody can hear you snore"
