What would you like feedback on?
How the game plays, if the difficulty is balanced, but most of all: how the game & story aspect feel.

What did you update?
This is a game that never got much feedback in the first place, hence why I'm uploading it here.

*Insert Earthbound-Inspired Indie Game About Depression meme*

Yeah, I wouldn't say this game is subtle about what it's trying to be, but it is fairly effective; it taps into a sense of imposter syndrome with more and more NPCs surpassing you over time while you get stuck on numerous obstacles. The platforming is pretty well-designed, though I noticed it went a lot smoother my second time around. On that note, one addition I would sort of like to see is a ranking system based on how fast you clear it; I don't know how well it would play into the themes, but it would encourage players to keep trying even after they've beaten it once. Still, it's good for what it is.

I think you nailed what you were going for and the balance between trying to rush ahead but also take the time to heal is a fairly nice one. The music change was a nice touch too although it was a bit of an extreme shift when you moved up. My biggest concern is that while it pulls off the goal, how sluggish and difficult the game can become isn't always very fun, neither is waiting to let it recharge. I think the idea is good, but maybe the difficulty is a bit too high or the controls just not quite responsive enough for me to push past how uncomfortable the controls feel. But again, I think that does lean it towards what your intention was so maybe that is fine. Overall, creative idea and I think the message is solid.

Amazing game, it try to convey a message that is something really complex.

About the gameplay, I like it a lot. Is simple and intuitive, and for me the difficulty was well balanced. I LOVE the rest mechanic, but I'm afraid is explained a little to late in the game. After taking some damage at the beggining I thought there was some bug because I fell the character too slow, I realised what was really happening only after a while. I love the mechanic because is tied with the story itself, improving the player immersion.

About the story... this is an hard one, because I think that is rather subjective what one feels about it. I found it interesting and sometimes even disturbing. It made me think about the theme that's a good thing.

To be completely fair the ending was a bit disappointing.  [SPOILERS AHEAD!] I was ready for some sort of morals or maybe for a unaswered question, those would have been fine. But I found a simplification of the theme of trauma that I didn't like. I imagine it's a common thought by who has had that experience, and in a sense, it's seemingly a legitimate request. But in reality, what should we do about it? You can't force people to feel empathy, nor do I believe you should try. It's a much more complex issue than simply saying, "Others don't understand me, they're indifferent and mean". The sense of isolation and being left behind is something that (I imagine) in the context of trauma a person can feel and suffer greatly from, but it can't all be reduced to that. It can't be the end of the story, right?

In any case, I can't stress enough that this is my personal impression and feeling about the story. I would gladly listen to other opinions about it ^^

Thanks for your reply! I was debating on whether the rest mechanic should be introduced earlier and that really confirms it, so I'll be making that change. That's good feedback about the story / writing too, interesting to read how someone else interprets it. The theme should definitely be more "trauma is an invisible hurt" and the difficulties that causes, but certainly not "others are mean for not seeing it". I wrote this more from a "this is what this feels like" perspective without fully considering it made it unclear to others what they should 'do' with that. That gives me some new things to think about. Ending it in a question for people to ponder over could be very interesting. Thanks for the valuable feedback!

I just tried your game, and nice work!

I feel the difficulty was not too bad, and was correct in my personal opinion after completing the game (though I did think differently when playing until I made a discovery towards the end which I will not spoil for other players)

I feel the game was short and to the point and got its message across. I am not really a good writer so I cannot give too much feedback on the story sadly. Maybe add a few extra comments for the other characters as I think they started to repeat.  Also maybe have a small backstory to what is going on with the race since I was confused about what was happening at first other than I am following the other red peps.

I think the jumps aren't high or long enough for some parts, at a certain point I couldn't proceed because of that. Besides that, the game has a lot of potential. The music downstairs is quite scary if that was the intention, so great job on that.

The difficulty of jumps was something I wondered about, so that's useful feedback.  Thanks for playing!

There came a moment when I was trying to use the flying objects that cause damage to climb because I thought that was part of the mechanic for climbing on the platforms.
