- Hoshi's gun was a cool shooter game! I enjoyed running around killing zombies... I mean who doesn't? The sounds were good. I liked the artwork in game, and the effects of the bullets. The gun spinning was unique and different. I wish there had 'felt' like there was more tie-in from the tricks to the zombie killing. like when I do a certain combo, I attack faster or do more damage. I may have run into a bug where I ran out of ammo? I couldn't find any additional ammo, and my reload wasn't working. The time-slow mechanic was a lot of fun to work with, and to shoot zombies using! I did have an issue with the aim offset when zombies were a bit too close. I had to turn all the way to the left to get the gun to shoot them when the zombies were in my face. Far away was fine, but if they were too close, the aim offset was noticeable. Other than being an FPS, I'm not sure that this totally fit the theme, but since there was weapons and shooting zombies, it gets a pass. The GDD was informative and well-written. I always enjoy it when there is a Development Timeline. It is so helpful as a judge to see what you started, completed, and had to scrap for more time. Great Job overall!

Congrats on completing the jam!
I think that the gun slinging aspect of the game has a lot of potential. I liked that you couldn't use the same style trick every single time to get points and had to mix it up.
Areas of improvement:
You should really list out all of the assets used in the development of this in the credits. In particular I wanted to know where the audio for the player came from because I'm pretty sure she was saying "Mitsubishi" a lot and was confused because I know Japanese so I wanted to know if that was actually what she was saying because it is strange.
Thanks for playing, yeah I definitely wish I had some play testing as I have to fix alot of things as you mentioned, I think alot of the issues stem from the fact that the bullet goes slightly right so its a pretty major bug as you cant really play without knowing that, things will be fairer and make more sense with that knowledge
The Sound effects are in the credits , if you google search those items you will find the anime voices
As for the art I did draw that
This is fun, can't survive till the zombie king arrives though sadly. The game is quite smooth, and adding in style points is an interesting idea. (Seldom use that though) I'd say the slightly to the right aiming is a huge bummer and I can't count how many times I died due to this alone (not counting the runs where I don't even know this is a problem). I am also having a hard time judging how many shots I need to shoot a zombie until it's dead, one for the crawling ones? and three for the walking ones? I just don't know. Any indicator will be better than shoot and wait till the animation ends. I got ambushed a lot from the back by newly spawned zombies, which I think is a bit unfair as there is no way to tell if there are any zombies behind you. Leads you to panic shoot quite a few times. Speaking of shooting, I also felt the bullet count was a bit harsh too, I ran out of bullets a few times and died because of it.
Anyway, apart from all of these, the game is still quite well made! Nicely done!
1 for head shot 4 for non head shot , zombies come from windows , a non intuitive way is to look at t he kill counter , but thanks for the suggestions I think everyone mentions the aiming so definitely gonna be on my judge review T_T
Thanks for playing
Zombies were solid, nice textures and animations! The aiming could use some work, and maybe some kind of indicator that a zombie is actually dead vs hit but not dead. I couldn't tell if some required more than one shot or if they were just stacked on each other. I didn't have headphones on so I'm not sure if there was spatial audio but I feel like it could help a lot with hearing zombies that aren't in view, and add some ambient creepiness. Fun game!
Thanks for playing , yeah I think I will probably add more blood to show they are actually dead, there is a play sound at location node so I should probably check they are all set to that, thanks for suggestions
hi!! this game is pretty fun! lining up zombies and piercing through them all at once was lots of fun and really satisfying. I'm sure you already know this, and it wasn't a humongous problem, but the bullets weren't lined up with the reticle making it harder to hit them. Maybe I'm just bad at FPS games, but this seemed pretty hard to me! I couldn't get the boss below half-health before the timer ran out, but I did at least get some pretty high scores! twirling the gun was cool and fun! I'd love to see it expanded upon! Maybe it could give a buff to your next shot or something. I kinda wished there were either healing items or more leniency on the enemy attacks, because sometimes taking damage didn't feel particularly fair (lots of hits in a short time that I can't do anything about, and enemies spawning on top of me). the reload mechanic was very fun to use, and I liked getting the timing down, it felt satisfying and nice! I think the game could stand to be a bit less dark though as sometimes it's hard to see where you're going. Otherwise, I had fun with this title! I think it's a good difficulty (if I wasn't so bad at FPS's and has a lot of interesting content. Good job getting your game out there :D
thanks for playing, the timer is a trap as you have to kill some zombies without style to have enough time to kill the boss, thanks for the suggestions too :)
Fun game! I really enjoyed running around spinning my gun waiting for the zombies to line up to get the perfect shot. I'd normally tie it into with saying something dumb with myself. The mechanics really lend itself well to feeling like an action hero and I think you can expand upon that in a lot of ways with some really cool trick shots and the like. The sound design was nice if not a little jarring from the UI, and the style of the animation was fun. The overall lighting of the game however was definitely a bit too dark imo. I spent my first run wandering around and didn't even find the staircase till my second just from being unable to see much of my surroundings. As well I ran into an occasion where I just ran out of ammo due to none spawning for me. Seems unlikely if you're getting big pierce chains on the zombies but definitely something that can happen. Maybe offering some sort of melee option if you have full style meter that can replenish a portion of your clip? Others have already mentioned the misaligned crosshair and it seems like you've already addressed it. Outside of that I think this could really benefit from having a stylized UI, something in the vein of a DMC. That would really tie the benefits of the style meter into a more immediate response to the player watching a combo build up with more and more style. I did enjoy the game and I think you've got the bones to make something really cool here.
Thanks for playing, yeah I think I need to add a melee as soft locking is generally bad , thanks for the suggestions will definitely consider them, still working on my first pirate game jam game atm but perhaps this one is a better idea, might have to switch
I have very mixed feelings about this game. Its has an interesting twist of doing "style kills" but felt like it was built by mixing various different things and gluing it together with duct tape. Its working. Its playable but everything is so out of place. How did you come up with this strange reloading mechanic ?
P.S. At least you had fun making it 🔥🔥
the reload was trying to replicate kill knights reload but I can see it doesn't really work right if you allow manual reloads, thanks for playing
I was jumpscared by the gunshot sound when pressing enter. The music, SFX and art seems like you’re mainly going more for a meme game, which is fine.
The gun tricks are a really nice add, but the aiming is extremely off center. I was shooting zombies for awhile and thought they were invulnerable, until I realised I wasn’t even hitting them.
I was also a little disappointed that I could not see the anime girl in the game, would remind me of playing L4D2 with an anime mod fighting hordes of zombies.
The zombies seem a little strange, their pathfinding is a little weird and I just ended up walking past most of them as they seemed to love to hug the wall. Especially when going up the stairs, I simply hugged the other side of the wall and I had no issues avoiding them.
Some other zombies issues include the death animation. When the zombie dies, for a brief moment they still have collision, so they would be playing their death animation, still moving and facing you, and you could still walk into them. Though it didn’t seem like they did any damage, but you still do collide with them as though they were a wall. Another issue was the spawning location. I was walking around the first floor and was staring at a particular wall by the window, and saw a zombie spawn midair halfway in the wall, before dropping down and walking toward me. After killing the zombie, another one spawned in the exact same spot a few seconds later.
A way to melee attack the zombies or push them away would be great, especially when you’re out of ammo would be good, as you’re basically useless once you ran out of bullets. The special ability to one hit zombies didn’t seem super useful outside of the slow, as most times I already kill them in one bullet. Though I’m not sure if there’s a change of damage on headshots.
The game was also really dark, and I could barely see much, but in contrast, the zombies were super obvious as the lighting of the map didn’t seem to affect the zombies. So while I could barely see the walls, the zombies were very easy to spot.
Not sure if it could be added, but a jumping mechanic would be great, so the player could jump over boxes, or over crawling zombies.
Seems like a old minigame that you would find on miniclip, but still a good effort!
thanks for playing, they are supposed to react to sound but I forgot to mention it, if you shoot they will hear you , the zombies spawn from a random time from the windows, yeah soft locking is definitely bad so a melee option is a good shout, guess a bit more light wanted it dark as its supposed to be a creepy mansion but i could brighten things ,
Feels like a strange flash game you'll find browsing years ago. It isn't bad, you just don't understand it's theme and style built upon a basic FPS.
Gun tricks look nice. Visuals and the premise created a fun thought of ferret rescue getting a zombie infested mansion.
It has a potential of being updated into something great if you'll keep polishing it.
Keep learning and having fun!
took some inspiration from time splitters zombie mansion if you remember it, thx for playing
I am not really sure to get why the title screen is an anime girl and what's up with the girl sounds so I will just ignore them.
My heart almost stopped the first time the gun sound is played on the title screen, it's too loud ^^
There is something weird with the reload, I think that after I do it once I briefly see it start over. It would be nice to have more feedbacks: when you hit something, the damage you did, the health remaining on the zombies and the purpose of the style.
Congrats on making an FPS.
thanks for playing , yeah need to tweak things some more, have a bunch of suggestion to try if I do a post jam build
I love the right-click to spin the gun, the crosshair isn't aline to the bullet
thanks for playing, yeah it was a quick bug fix that I can patch the game once judging ends
I would've liked to see Hoshi in third person 🤣 zombies spawned behind me on my last run and got me. I think the style meter was a really cool thing you added that made this experience unique. I would have liked a melee option, so you can punch the zombies to get out of the way when you run out of ammo or need to reload. And more lighting in the area would've been great. But the zombie models and animations were awesome! Felt really good like I was fighting off zombies for real. Pleasant experience, well done!!
added you on bsky, you can see my other project which is third person, so its could definitely be added, thanks for playing
I like killing zombies with style, the first person animation look really nice and the game is really easy to understand. But it is a little difficult to accurately hit the target sometimes. I'm still not getting used aiming from the right side.
wish I could post an update as this was a extremely quick bug fix
The music and sfx feel solid, but the shot direction was to the right of the recital, making it hard to shoot. I feel like this could be expanded, maybe getting style points for multikills (if that was supposed to happen it didn't for me). Also, you may want to explain what style does. This game has potential, it just needs some smoothing around the edges. Good entry though!
Great submission! Love the music and the visuals - those zombies look cool and the tricks to add style remind me a bit of Devil May Cry! What I didn't like was the way the bullets travels. The crosshair and path dont line up so you need to adjust. What would be nice would be to add a stylish reload animation. 😁😁 Also a bit more Lighting would've helped me (but I might just suck at it lol). Good job! :)
