  • I really liked the game overall. The mechanics, shooting, absorbing, and mixing all together made a really cool game. My biggest issue was even before I could fully grasp how the mechanics worked I started getting swarmed more and more. So I pushed tried to figure things out but in the amount of time I had to play it I don't think I fully understood the concepts behind the blood mixing mechanic. I don't really fully understand the mechanic itself. However that being said it was quite unique and felt good overall. So my overall gameplay experience during this was quite satisfactory. The art and music gave me old nostalgic doom vibes from back in the day and made the game even that more enjoyable. Suggestions: - I think you could add some sort of hit marker or indicator of some sort to help know when your being hit from behind. - Maybe a little more in-depth tutorial of some sort for the mixing mechanic to really understand it even if its just a written version could go a long way.

Hæmatomania is a fast paced first person shooter where you shoot your blood as bullets. You can regain blood and strengthen yourself by siphoning blood off of dead enemies, with your goal being to survive for as long as possible and accumulate the highest score.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
Blood is health
Blood is ammo
You are the weapon

In Hæmatomania you expend parts of yourself, your blood, to do damage. In the most literal sense of the theme, you are the weapon.

Quite a nice doom-esque game! Good job on that! The movement is smooth enough, pacing is nice, the graphic is also quite good! Also that regaining health from blood from the fallen enemy is a nice touch.

The thing that baffles me the most is that there are usually enemy remaining when a wave ends, and the second wave just started immediately, kinda defeats the purpose of using waves in the first place. Maybe adding a breather between waves just to claim the play down a bit? Another thing is that the game claims that different blood colour bring different effect, yet we are never told what difference is that. I would be nice to at least inform the player that information within the game.

You're right on the money with this feedback. The different blood types have a stat sheet that effects the resulting projectile and none of that is comunicated in game. We've gotten many simmilar comments to this and it's one of the first things we want to improve if we decide to keep working on polishing and expanding this current gameplay loop. The wave system is much more PvZ than CoDZ, it's just on a timer and the idea was that to not be overwhelmed in later waves you'd need to be efficient in clearing out all rooms on the map. Maybe this wasn't the greatest approach and I'll absolutely share your thoughts with the team.

I don't know how the blood banks work but I got 165k points so that's huge. Very cool concept, would love to see more out of this!

That's a really high score!.. But not the highest we've seen. We were sent this results screen shortly after launch of a player with a million points lol. Super happy you enjoyed it though! Can't wait to play your game too. It's one of the ones that caught my interest as i was skimming through the submissions so I'll get too it eventually. Think there's like 40 other games ahead in my backlog rn

Really well made game! But it's kinda difficult for me.. I downloaded window version because somehow game does not work on chrome browser.

So I was TERRIBLE at this game lol, I was getting wrecked, but out of what I was able to see I enjoyed- obviously it hits the theme very well and the graphics and old school visual style is much appreciated, I think the sounds work well and I was intrigued by the different blood having different effects though I wasnt quite sure what the effects were haha. Overall good job! Maybe the game could start a little more easier, or enemy projectiles could be slower to begin with.

Our target audience is the hardcore honer fps player so it's not meant to be for everyone sadly. It could for sure have a smoother difficulty curve but it's intentionally designed to be high paced and difficult for those who really like that type of game. I've had some friends I know love these types of games playtest and they reached wave 93 and had a blast so I'd say that's a success.

You guys nailed the look and feel of the game. Art for the enemies is great! Shooting stuff and sucking up blood feels good. No idea what the different colors of blood do, but it was still fun Good job!!!
