  • Hit a few bugs and had to restart, like getting stuck on corners and got stuck behind the cauldron. Super cute, lovely ports. Bugs just need a little for and the movement is a bit fast, and sometimes lags behind. Good job though! Really enjoyed it.

"Brewing Up!" is an RPG, puzzle game where you brew potions to help cure people's issues. The game features the cauldron mechanic where you can add any ingredient in any order or stir it to create your own mixtures, this is a very dynamic way to input the player's answer to a puzzle. We also made a cute snail - cat named Jerry... He is very cute and serves as the games primary instructor.

I love the art, especially the snail cat. I think there's a lot of potential in this game.

I did feel like the game was really heavy on text, which is understandable given the limited time frame. If you continue working on it, I'd look into ways to have a tutorial that relied less on text.

I agree with you on the text, it can feel a little boring reading all of it. Thanks for the feedback!

Great concept for a game. I like the idea of needing to find out symptoms and make a diagnosis. It's a very pen and paper sort of game. Gotta right stuff down. I like that kind of game. Artwork is cute and Jerry the cat is funny. I think the only change I would make is that right clicking to move doesn't feel very natural to me. Overall, fun game!

This game feels like it has a lot of potential. Really like the art style and character dialogues are fun to read.

The idea that you need to figure out the disease, then find the correct cure, then brew it is also very interesting.

Some issues I encountered:

  • I’d like to be able to move with WASD or to be able to just hold RMB to continuously move to mouse position.
  • Since all the books are on the same object, I wish I could switch between books without needing to press Esc and select a new one.
  • You can also move while book is opened.

Overall, it’s a great entry!

Very cute submission! The art and characters are the main highlight for me. The tutorial is also very clear. Everything just looks an feels really polished. I do think that the concept idea doesn't utilise the whole theme to the fullest (the shadows part), but that doesn't take away from the quality of the project. I brewed the first potion and have two pieces of feedback:

  • Stiring in the cauldron feels very janky and often skips a few numbers
  • Hovering over reagents should show you what their names are, I was cycling stuff in my inventory because I didn't know what each thing was.

Well done!

Thank you for the great feedback! I do agree that we let the shadows piece of the theme untouched a little, we had a plan for that but ran out of time for that sadly, you know how it is.

The stirring mechanic is very difficult to use reliably, I was going to add a counter above the cauldron  that tells you how much you have stirred while you are doing, yet again. out of time.  PRO TIP: you can move the spoon over the cauldron once and then release it to add just 1 to the number, you can do this as many times as needed to achieve the correct amount of stirs as the inputs will stack.

Finally, I'm sorry that you got confused by the items names, if you hover over the center of them for ~ 0.5 seconds, a tool tip will appear that tells you the name of the item, and a funny description.

Again thank you so much for your feedback!
