- This is a good entry. Enjoyable gameplay, good art, smooth implementation. Few nitpicks, game could use some sound effects when adding ingredients to the potion, would add a lot of charm. Could definitely use some unique twists to make the mechanics really your own. overall enjoyable and decently polished

Story:
Evelyn grew up as an orphan girl in the kingdom of Coventry.
Because of her demonic appearance, she had a hard life, the people there spat on her and treated her like rubbish.
Eventually, she was taken in by the Demon Queen, ruler of the shadow realm, She taught her not to hate herself because of the way she looked. She helped her understand that people are defined by their actions, not their appearance.
One day, many years later, the Demon Queen passes through Coventry, and the villagers declare her a monster. Despite her pleas, They all mob together to slay her.
Evelyn, distraught, decides that now is the time to seek revenge on the kingdom that had wronged her all those years ago.
Her first act after inheriting the throne, was to cast Coventry into an era of shadow, from which they would never return.
Gameplay:
To play, drag the ingredients on the list that's in front of you, into the potion bottle.
Every night you will be given new ingredients and bottles to help you brew more and more powerful potions. Different bottles will have different rules for mixing in the ingredients. If you need help, there's a book you can click on, in the top left.

I hope you guys have fun playing!

Wow this game is absolutely beautiful and has a fantastic progression of both difficulty and story! I'm also really proud I was able to finish it!
I only had 2 little issues with the game so I'll get them out of the way first then go on with the rest.
I don't know if there's a difference in the interaction box on the human eyes but I had a hard time picking those up sometimes for some reason. It was only those I had this issue with.
The other issue was the ending! After you beat night 8 which is SUPER hard you just get "thanks for playing". NOOOO where's the payoff? Tell me about how you've taken over the world and how I was the main source of it and how I'll be your right hand henchman or something... anything! The story was fantastic from beginning to almost end I just wanted a little cherry on top and it felt like it suddenly ended without much celebration at all.
Anyways the game is fantastically draw from start to end. Not only is the opening cutscene great it's also animated in some parts also! Some real attention to detail. The UI, the recipe book, the bottles and ingredients and the main level are all perfect. And I gotta say Evelyn is looking pretty damn good between levels too.
The audio is fantastic and I especially liked the remix of the music on night 8. I wish you had linked it somewhere cos I wanna listen to it again! It was an unexpected surprise that I really enjoyed.
Gameplay wise the gradual introduction of new ingredients and bottles that alter the order you need to put them in was absolutely perfect. By night 8 I was so frazzled I had to keep pausing to check the bottles to be certain I was doing it right. Although I will say the handle bottle and the pointy bottle confused me a lot. I'm not sure if it's cos they were similar shaped (even though one has a handle). Also hiding the ingredients when you pause was a stroke of genius.
I have no idea if this is cheese or not but by day 2 I started waiting to add the last ingredient to the bottles to the last second when the bottle was almost off-screen to try and pass as much time as possible. I'm pretty sure you accounted for that though cos I'm sure I noticed the moon speed up if you finish the potion early. Would love to know if that was cheese or not.
Oh also the addition of the last bottle was a great touch. It felt like a little breather in the middle of the madness which I assume was the intention. Really good choice.
If you plan to continue developing this it would be interesting to see where it goes. It already feels like a full game but I feel like story-wise there could be more to uncover with Evelyn.
In summary, had a ton of fun with this in every way and would highly recommend people give it a shot.
Great game, easy to understand and play but gets really difficult later on. Alks well written story and loved the artwork for it
The mechanic with the differnt types of bottles gave an simple potion brewer game a nice twist!
Only critic is that i had some issues with the hitbox of the water jellyfish. I had to click directly on the jelly fish to consistently grab it. if i only clicked into the blue box of the jelly fish, it worked only half the time
I like the game especially the visualization and aesthetics of it all. The downfall is your sound as it seems to be a bit crackling when being played. Might need to look to optimize that better in the future.
Great to see another game that can play properly in the browser as well.
Hi I wanted to ask what exactly you mean with the crackling from the sound. are you talking about the parts when you talk with evelyn between the game play loop?
Both all the sounds I heard so far in the game have been a crackling with a bit of noise in it.
That is kind of weird. I or no one else I have asked had that problem ever but good to know
Phew, beat it! Night 8's got me stressed! :p
Nice take on the potion brewing genre, was very addicting. Looks great and I love the music too.
Loved the reasoning for the handle-bottle mechanic xD
There was a good balance of introducing new mechanics to keep it fresh.
I'm pretty sure there's a weird quirk where if you "play well" (ie. make the potions fast), the game gets way harder - cause the next one come sooner, so you go through more per night, and since each one is faster and faster then it gets crazy fast by the end! Dunno if that's intentional.
After the first couple nights I switched to finishing each potion at the latest point possible and it felt like it got way easier.
Overall, great work :)
Edit : Also each ingredients "hitbox" is a bit too short. If you click the top 1/4 of any ingredient, you are clearly clicking it but it won't register.
This is and incredibly looking and really atmospheric game! I also enjoyed the narrative.
I see some people saying the game is not difficult, but I found it quite hard and died at night 5 on my first run. I guess if you complete the first potions too fast they gain to much speed too quickly?
A couple of issues I had:
Overall, it’s an impressive entry!
Really nice, it feels like a complete experience which not many games in this jam have achieved. Simple mechanics but definitely challenging. Well done on designing the ingredients, when the extra bottle requirements were added I knew exactly which ingredients it referred to without needing to be told. Good art style, fitting music, not much to critique!
The gameplay is simple but still got really hectic as the levels went on. Art is charming and the music is great. My only complaint is that the final scene after Night 8 seems a little anti-climatic and out of character. Great job still!
Presentation is the strongest part of the game, the artist and composer did an amazing job. The gameplay loop is really simple, my only complain is that it's a too repetitive and not that difficult. However, the story kept me engage until the end and it was a really cool take on the theme. I really respect the approach that this game took, and overall this is an amazing experience. Great job!
Beautiful art, really fun & challenging gameplay, and on top all wrapped up in a cool little revenge story - love it! And the soundtrack really goes hard, well done! 👏
First off, major kudos to your team's artist(s)! I especially like how the background of the night sky and the moon passing was used as the timer; well implemented and nice art to boot!
IMO drag and drop feels slightly difficult, especially when the game progresses in speed and complexity; one possible alternative I can think of is have it be a toggle where the player just needs to click the item once, then drag their cursor over to the bottle, then click again to deposit the material into the bottle
I can't believe y'all were even able to have a story in there! Was a very nice touch that really contributed to the overall game, and how polished it feels! And of course, lovely music!
