  • I found the art nice and simple, although the camera occasionally got stuck behind some of the terrain. I missed having background music while playing, but the sound effects worked really well and did not break. (Music did not play during testing, but it started playing when I went back to the main menu, and it was a good song.) The themes were implemented, but I missed the alchemy part. According to the GDD, mixing units would be interesting. The movement system was great, and the camera movement between characters was smooth. The 'New Game' feature did not work. Overall, it was an awesome game, and I hope to see you at the next jam.

An RTS-style game in which the player commands a squad of Liberators on a future Mercury colony. Their job is to find people in need of liberation, but they have to be careful not to spend more than a few seconds out of the shadows because the sunlight will cook them alive.

Super cute! Well done to the whole team.

A really satisfying gameplay loop and I love that you dug deeper to make a unique spin on the theme, especially with the "liberation" lol. All the different squad members are cool and the game seems to have lots of polish as well. Overall had a great time playing through this!

This is an awesome take on shadows and alchemy! Plays super smoothly and the art works perfectly! Plus, that level select is *chefs kiss*

Wondering if I should have some moral concerns for what we're doing to the followers...

It’s wonderful. I already want to see more levels. It’s exactly the kind of thing I enjoy. The sound design, the smooth, common-sense yet inventive mechanics, the way the freed colonists peel off in carefully-space intervals, the cute rounded look to the models, the slick UI, it’s all compelling. And as a Lemmings devotee, it feels at once familiar and new.

I particularly enjoyed using the mine layer not as intended, but just timing their run over mines to make the bad guys go ’splodey!

Just in case you didn’t already find these minor issues, a quick list (these are mentioned in spite of all the amazing things about this submission, and not to detract in any way from it):

  • it’s relatively easy to accidentally place a mine on top of a rock layer but somehow suspended in mid air
  • some mines seemingly can’t be disarmed for this reason (I presume the click is going through to the overhanging rock)
  • if you minimise a full-screen in the web version, then make it full screen again the game does not redraw
  • after completing the game, if you attempt to start a new game nothing happens (until you reload the browser)
  • if the mine-layer is grouped when they attempt to disarm, the mine will be disarmed from the current position (rather than walking to it)
  • the click and hold to scroll the globe view works nicely, but if you change direction it keeps scrolling in the original direction

Incredible work. So pleased for you all.

thanks basie for this super thoughtful and deep review!

We had a "fix it" guy so I'll send your list over to him lol.

The game is fun, the gameplay is responsive. (I smell some HD2 inspiration :>) Overall the tutorial is well done, and it is satisfying to grind little aliens into paste transmute. Great game!

It was fulfilling to get the people all lined up and liberated to complete the missions. Really nice gameplay with the different squad types for combat while setting up the right path for your people to follow without getting too sunburnt. It was cool too have the after mission briefing with a score and upgrade choices. I could see this game expanding into more combat and puzzles for the liberation
