Thank you so much for the super nice and in depth comment!!

A shame that the track ball had to get put away to make the game playable hahaha, something we may take into consideration next game...

Of course we had lots of ideas for future games, but for this jame we just wanted to give a sort of idea as to the whole game concept rather than make one short simpler level (although that may have made playing the game nicer hahaha)

Really cool style in this game, impressed with how much you managed to get done in the 2 weeks :)

My only gripe was that because of the camera angles, sometimes I forgot where the doors were hahaha

This game is super well made and feels great to shoot!

Well done :)

I feel bad for Greg :(((

But also super fun little game :) I managed to win by getting Greg stuck hahaha

Can be a little bit dark and hard to see, maybe I'm missing if theres a light button?

Absolutely adore the sounds plus a super unique take on the theme!

Well done :)

Thanks for stopping by :)

If only we had more time, we could've fleshed it out a bit more, but that's game jams right?

Glad you figured it out in the end though!

Glad you got a kick out of the changing ingredients! That was one of our first big ideas for the game and we're just happy it managed to execute well :)

Thank you! We had many big inspirations from the early web days indeed :)

Thanks so much for the nice words!

We actually had discussed having the torch be less passive and more something players had to interact with to fix! Sadly, just not enough time to implement things hahha

Who knows, maybe in the future :)

Super glad you got to figure the liquids out at the back of the book :)

We had done some early playtesting and found that was a common issue, but we just had no time to make solid changes to it hahaha

Thanks so much for the kind words :)

Thanks so much :)

Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed !

the nightmares of  the customers still haunt me to this day, hahah.

me ma me mo me me me de ah do de da..

"can you please make me a potion of love, cause this was a nice comment"

yeah hahah we had a, last minute discussion on wanting to make the firewood easier to notice sadly we just didn’t have time to implement any of them, its just one of those things.

Cheers man!!

Thank you for the kind words and also, we had a very last minute discussion on wanting to make the firewood easier to notice😅 sadly we just didn’t have time to implement any of them, at least you noticed eventually though haha

Thanks so much! The first time playing it can be overwhelming for sure but I’m glad it got easier as you kept playing!

Thanks so much! I feel guilty of skipping tutorials all the time on game jams after playing a few games, glad it came across easily for you!

haha thanks so much! You’ve gotta add a level of stress to a cooking game!

hahah it was not intentional, but we realised it kinda works ! Cheers !

Yeah,  your right haha.

Thought a "sample potion":  that was the better way of explaining  "how to play" and then we ran out of time.  it be like that sometimes hehe

I'm glad you enjoyed though. :D

Game was very polished and was fun!

Dashing around and spamming J was my go to hahah!

Fun Game, was super satisfying getting a kill and filling up the gauges haha.

Easy to pick up Straight away.  Wish there was more haha!

Good Job

Game was difficult but was very enjoyable.  I think it hit that sweet spot.

The longest I survived was 3 mins.

Art style felt like I was in a vvincent van gogh painting.

nice man, niceeeee! :)

Very well optimised for a html5 game.

amazing art/design

Interesting, idea reminded me of  a version of superhot,  when slashing and killing the guards. (idk same level of satisfaction)

Felt when entering the "shadow" can be a bit disorientating at times, but hey. that may be on me.

good work guys!

Like others have said, It was a bit hard to control the view because of the mouse going off screen, but this may just a browser issue. However the game itself seemed excellent. The art style was executed flawlessly, and the general stealth mechanics seemed to work. I actually found it quite difficult myself.

I do feel like there could be a bit more polish on the detection, since it felt a bit inconsistent when the enemies actually found me or not. They would sometimes lose me in the light, and then sometimes find me in the dark.

A lot of potential here in this game, and I encourage you to continue to work on it in the future, great job!

I actually found this really hard at the start, but eventually got the hang of it.

got really annoyed that I couldn't jump of the table as a shot glass as you will be teleported back to your spot.

Funny/cute art style.

I'm glad you regen health when standing back in shadows, makes it nice to balance your time out in the sun without being punished to hard. I did however find it difficult to figure out how to get more potions to throw, as at a point I was lost on how I was meant to actually attack the enemies that were coming at me.

You've done really well for a first game here though. The art style is nice and simple yet effective, where you have nice fluid animations that all work well with the game (although drinking and throwing could be a bit quicker).

Amazing work again for a first, and I hope you apply your knew found skills in your future games!

Mad, intro and great art.

Made me feel young again.

Was a bit lost hahah, not sure if all you do is throw potions. but was fun otherwise.

I like the stealth style of this game. Having to avoid all the plague doctors along side trying to cure the shadow meter allows for the player to focus on multiple threats rather than simply just running away. Under you Extra Notes sections you mention a few mechanics that may not be recognised. I did not notice them in the game, but if they were to be more balanced and effective I think they will add a lot more to the difficulty of the game, and add more threats for the user to try and control.

I didn't really understand the elixir system at first, but I understand what the goal of them are meant to be.

One critique I have is that the game in terms of movement felt a bit directionless, as in at first I wasn't really sure if I am meant to heading in a certain direction or just wonder around to find materials.

Overall, great work! I really enjoyed the art style and UI elements, they are really consistent with each other and suit the theme perfectly. Awesome job!

I do like the game's concept, the mage hand actually mechanic was quite unique but in all honesty was quite hard.

couldn't make it past the first skeleton

Music and art was good :)

(1 edit)

Amazing Idea, and Brilliant Execution.

Music was a 10/10.

Made it fun to try out all characters to see how their "shadow puppets" worked!

Found that  the swan was the best hahah love that dude.

hahah cute game!

good rhythm.

wish I could you the arrow keys... but still had fun

The foundation here is good, both with art direction and also gameplay. The different attacks are cool, and would love to see these as more of a thing you unlock through levels rather than just having all the attacks from the start. Obviously there is only one short stretch of level to experience, but it was enough to see the vision of what the game could be. You should off a bit of combat, some movement, and the art style.

One thing I noticed, may be a me problem, but I feel the obstacles (spikes) blend a bit to much into the rest of the background, where the first few times I actually ran into them thinking they were part of the backdrop.

Great submission, should be proud of how much you got done in the time frame!

My penance was unpaid.

Art style of this game is fantastic. The transitions between things you enter is very smooth and feels very clean and polished.

Movement feels very fluid, and the farming system is a nice touch, rather than just making players collect items.

Awesome submission!

Really cool mechanics in this game. The stealth system works really well in this, it's nice that there is a bar to fill up in terms of getting caught rather than being instant. The steal identity system works really well. and I like how it almost turns into a little puzzle when it comes to making sure you have the right disguise on to move past the enemies.

I will say, although the the positioning of enemies gets better in later levels, it does feel a bit easy to just run up to an enemy and kill them, as the time for the game to reset is a bit long from when you get caught. This allowed to just storm through and spam kill the enemies.

Overall, very well polished systems and an awesome submission!

Cool little concept here. The crafting system works really well with a nice variety of beer potions you can craft. I do feel like some of the UI for the potions doesn't convey what they do that well, but after using them once you do figure it out.

The digging mechanic is a cool little feature that adds some variety in the platforming, rather than just continuously holding d to go right. The stealth work really well as well, and the cone of vision portrays the kobolds line of sight accurately.

Really cool submission here, awesome work!

A little tutorial on what I was meant to do would be nice, as nothing happened when I interacted with anything. Not sure if this was where you got cut off by the time limit, or maybe something broke in the browser port, but I grew a beard in the end so that was awesome.

The two week limit is very rough, and as a first, it is cool to see how much you've learnt in that time frame. Definitely use your new skills to build further on this game and expand it into to something more.

You should be very proud you got something out there, so this should only encourage you to keep making more games. Good work man!

Awesome little platformer you've made here for a first. Curious if you did the art as well? Works nicely as a browser platformer. I would like to see how the potions end up working once you implement that system in, and I think the idea of having a cold blood lizard needing to keep warm is a cool take on the shadows prompt.

I will say I think this game would benefit from some more secret paths or hidden areas, think it would add some nice variety into it rather than just being a more linear platformer.

Overall though, awesome submission, great job for a first!

Resolution was a bit weird in the browser, but otherwise game was working. Art style reminds me of Limbo, which looks very nice.

Gameplay wise it was nice and simple. I did accidently glance at the colour combos on the info page so that got spoiled, but the mechanic itself is cool.

I will say that I feel like the main shooting attack should probably disappear once it hits an enemy in order to give it a bit more impact, since it felt like there was no real feedback when shooting enemies as it went right through them. This depends however if you intent on being able to get collateral hits between multiple enemies.

Great submission overall though!
