Very good, puzzles slide nicely into the setting.

Looking very much forward to this one. However, I have just started playing The Impossible Stairs and the first thing I did was type TUTORIAL OFF. The game then says that the tutorial is off, which is fine. But when I then type LOOK the tutorial pops up again and tells me that I can TAKE AIRPLANE. Again I type TUTORIAL OFF before taking the airplane. Then the tutorial pops up again and tells me to type INVENTORY and so on. I am using Lectrote on Windows 10.

It might not be a big deal but I was thinking that I would wait until this bug(?) is fixed as I wouldn't want any puzzles to be revealed by the tutorial. There is no hurry, just wanted you to let you know about this I think is a bug. I can just play some of the other games in the meantime.

Hmm, yeah I had some code for the online version that was messing it up. I've fixed that bug and another one that was a disambiguation error and updated the game to release 2 (for the offline version only. The online version hasn't changed, since it doesn't really use the tutorial). Thank you for finding this!

Great, that was fast! Seems to work well now. As you write, when playing online the tutorial is not active (by default). However, if you go to the top right menu and disable hyperlinks, the tutorial becomes active in the online version and has the same problem. I am happy with the version I downloaded as it works fine with Lectrote but I thought you might like to know.

Some things are unexpectedly charming.  This is expectedly charming, because I'd expect no less from mathbrush. :-)  The story and the puzzles are good (a little heavy on the run-back-and-forth, perhaps; I thought the garage/treehouse was the best of them), but the best part is all of the little details.  Examining yourself and your family members on different , er, floors of the house; the descriptions of Joe's work as he ages; the calendars, the carpets, the various events. Really good.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind comments!

Still having trouble with rating submission.

I really like the stair design, it's very creative, though I guess using a stair is kind of weird(but it also does make a certain sort of sense) The details in each room change too. You also replicated the writing style from bottle perfectly, I almost couldn't tell it was by a different author.

Also, is this a bug?

Developer

I'm glad you liked it! That's definitely a bug, and one I hoped I had fixed, but it snuck through. I've changed it in my own code and will post a new version once the comp is over (don't want to mess up the online saves of people still playing!) If anyone is in the same problem, you can type 1 or 2 in disambiguation to choose which one you want. Thanks again!

"you can type 1 or 2 in disambiguation to choose which one you want." Really? That's handy to know. Is that a Dialog thing or does it also work with Inform 6 and Inform 7 games?

Developer(+2)

I think it's just in Dialog!
