Feel free to ask questions about the jam here!

If I submit early and update it before the jam ends, then which version would the ratings be based on?

HostSubmitted

The updated version. Make sure to remove or not allow any downloads of the previous version too if you're planning on doing that :D

I made a game prior to this jam. Could I do a remix of one of the songs from its OST for this event? Just Curious.

HostSubmitted

Hmm, yes, I suppose you can. However, the jam's original intent is for you to improve by learning from popular video game soundtracks, just fyi.

Does YouTube count as a streaming service? I don't have a SoundCloud account, and I'm not sure how complicated making an account is, but I have a Youtube Channel I could upload it to.

Submitted

Nevermind, I made a SoundCloud account.

Yep, YouTube counts as a streaming service and you can upload to there instead ^^

You can also upload your screen recording there too.

So, if I make multiple tracks for this jam, how would I go about submitting those? would it be one single download of everything for a submission, or would it be individual tracks?

HostSubmitted (1 edit)

It’s up to you, if you have a lot of tracks (around 4 or more) you can submit it as a zip file for people to download easily, but if it’s less than that you can submit the files separately in the same project.

Submitted

Does the 3 minute requirement apply to the Soundcloud submission, or does it apply to the ZIP file?

HostSubmitted

They should both be the same, as SoundCloud is just to make it easier for people to listen to the tracks ^^.

The 3 minute requirement is for all tracks combined btw.

How long does the reviewing process normally take? I'm worried that I may get lost in the shuffle because I submitted earlier and my submission is lower on the page.

Will there be a way to see how we were rated? Publicly or privately?

Submitted(+2)

I know that for the previous OST Jam there is Public Ranking and you can see your overall scores in all categories. But for this one the rules had stated this will not have a public ranking. I'm definitely interested in finding out how things went as well though.

Same here

Will the compilation album be uploaded to Bandcamp or other sites?

HostSubmitted

It will be released to most major streamings (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, etc.). I’m not sure about bandcamp yet, but I think it will also be there. ^^

What's the difference between "cover" and "tribute"? I was thinking tributes would be songs with inspiration, and covers would be unoriginal but with adaptation. An "inspiration" example would be when people compose with techniques like Common Practice, and then an "adaptation" example would be when Whiter Shade of Pale was reharmonized and orchestrated for literal orchestra.
