Description
Three very different tracks for a (modern) retro RPG:

-The first track, Dragon Melody, is a smooth village theme. The main flute melody is the theme of the dragon (a mystic spirit living in the mountains and protecting the village, yada yada....), and the second theme was supposed to be the heroine theme (a brave girl in charge of the shrine, the kind to wish for a simple life but getting dragged into adventures of epic proportions by fate or game design, you choose), but sadly, I had to rush composition for that part at the last minute, and couldn't reuse it in other tracks. The core inspiration was basically every japan based village in any RPG.

-The second track, Something Evil, is more of an ambient tune, the kind that accompany a cutscene. I actually recorded myself doing a bit of throat singing and used a clip in a granular synth for the ominous bass sound. I was loosely inspired by the Secret Of Evermore soundtrack here.

-Finally, Fighting To Protect, an old fashioned boss battle theme, with guitars, organs and synth lead going at 180bpm :D That's my comfort zone. You'll probably recognize the homage to FF6 Decisive Battle in the first synth riff. I reused the dragon theme in the end (with a twist), as it is supposed to be the "final boss" (the corrupted dragon to be cleanse, you know the deal). I probably lost a full hour listening to this one again and again.

On the technical side: I worked in FLStudio 21, using mostly Pigment for the synths (with a touch of Sylenth1 for the leads). I used the sakuachi and the rock organ from the Kontakt 5 library, Shreddage IIX for the guitars, Shreddage picked bass for the rock bass, and the Drumkit from Hell library for EZDrummer for the rock drums. I recorded myself using a Zoom H2n, and the rest is basically stock plugins. I hope that covers everything :D

Message from the artist
First time participating in a music only jam. I'm more of a dev guy, but I do make music and I had some time on my end, so why not! Except that I had things to do and basically my whole Saturday was spent doing errands and not composing, so I had to rush things a bit and could not produce as much tracks as I would have liked :/

Hope you'll have as fun listening to those tracks as I had making them :)

Have a nice day :D

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Both the image and the title gave me a strong RPG vibe from the SNES / PSX era, so I went that way. You can of course disagree, I'm not sure what more to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The vibe of 2 is so dank. And the drum beat in 3 has a lot of energy, i like it.

The chromatic rise during fighting to protect was very cool! really great all around!

Really fun set of pieces! Very anime, also kinda reminded me of the Crypt of the Necrodancer soundtrack. Great stuff

Awesome stuff!! The run followed by the halftime groove at the beginning of "Fighting To Protect" gave me the warm & fuzzies :))

Pretty good (and quite a lot of music given how rushed you were).  I was getting Metroid Prime vibes from Something Evil.

Fighting to protect is amazing

Nice work!! All 3 tracks did a great job of exploring the theme and creating a full idea of the game! I particularly liked the second ambient track, especially the textures you used in the bass. Also, track 3 is a great battle song, I could easily see it in a real game!
