Description
Howdy.

Thank you for clicking on my submission. This was fun but quite the challenge. I don’t normally write in an orchestral style, but I felt it would be appropriate for the themes. I used FL Studio and a bunch of Kontakt libraries that didn’t mix well together but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

- Game -

I imagined the music going to a game where there was already an established hero. Someone who had already “hero’ed” and is living peacefully, but of course, something comes up and ruins it and they set on an adventure once again. The hero would have to find their companions and regain their abilities again but they always have the guidance of the dragon to look upon.

- Tracks -

Your Burnt Heart: This would be the catalyst of the story. The hero finds themselves in the middle of a tragedy and is helpless to save the world they once did, but they have to find the perseverance to fight again even when what they worked so hard for is gone. The progression of the track reflects this development by starting with a sad, reflecting melody in the erhu, growing into a more driving string & horn section, and finally ending with heroic tutti chord hits.

Combat Theme: I imagined this game to have turn-based combat, so I felt the music shouldn’t be too repetitive and it should also fit the dramatic action adventure a hero would have. I added a very driving taiko ensemble, lots of unison brass sections, and a few changes to keep it fresh.

Map Select: As soon as I saw there was a dragon, I wanted to do some type of travel theme. This is a lot more lighthearted and simple than the two other tracks but I wanted to make some contrast in the soundtrack as most games do and have it be more repeatable as the player is waiting in the menu.

Message from the artist
Hi, I hope you like my submission. It's been fun listening to y'all's too.

Theme

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I tried to incorporate elements of music that would suit a hero's chronicle with big drum and horn sections, and the picture greatly influenced the instruments I used as the taiko, erhu, guzheng, and others were heavily featured.

I enjoyed your compositions very much! My favorite is map select. It's minimal yet it captures the atmosphere so well.

Very good! Flavor is on point for sure!  I think it's funny how the first part of yours is very similar to the opening of mine. Same intuition!

I'd say the only critique I have here is that virtual instruments on their own tend to be very choppy. A midi controller can help ameliorate this, and then adding real vocals and instruments on top can also greatly help.

the percussion in map select is really satisfying

Nice! I really like the map select.

Developer

Thank you. Even though it's simple, it has its charm, especially the ocarina.

Nice! I really liked the Combat Theme!!

Developer

Thank you. That one took the longest by far and I'm glad you like it even with it's not good ending.

This was a really fun project!!! Your percussion and rhythms were very well done!

Developer

Thank you. I'm very much not a percussionist or anything adjacent so it's a little tedious but very rewarding.

I really liked the percussion in all the pieces. Especially the clicky one!

Developer

Thank you. If you're talking about map select, that would be the bangu, it's a pretty small chinese frame drum that makes a unique noise because of it's size.

Excellent work! Especially drumming maybe taiko?

Developer

Thank you. Yeah, the taiko on the combat theme took a while. I'm happy to hear it was worth it.

You did a great job on this! I'm personally a fan of "Map Select" :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it, I literally almost did not include it because of how different it was from the others.
