Description
The game I imagined was a tragic hero playing in a world where he/she grew up in, but became hostile to them for reasons beyond their control. As they try to rediscover themselves and figure out the rest of their journey towards their goal, the ultimate reality of their tragic fate hits them. It is a serene and a calm feeling of a soft and a graceful end of everything they love.

Message from the artist
Sound quality is not at par with a professional studio due to lack of professional grade equipment and software.

Theme

Inside my world

How does it fit the theme?
The pieces have their own ways of a slow introduction, allowing the listener to gradually get into the piece, while the piece guides the listener in a fantasy world of the hero.

Really liked the piano and strings combination. One suggestion would be to experiment with different levels of dynamics and rhythms in the piano melody to create more variation in the melody.

The strings were very well done as they seamlessly weaves through the music.

And thanks for rating my work!

Piano driven pieces are always going to win me over, and this is no exception. Each of these is really well done; the playing is nice and dynamic with some great use of various articulation. Kudos on the accompaniment throughout - fantastic job of underscoring the piano while letting it shine. The brief moments when the strings would come to the forefront, such as half-way through Welcome to my Abode, was really well done also - I would've loved to hear a little more of this!

Each track does a great job of establishing a defined mood and then weaving its' way through. Solid choice of progressions throughout. Great work, this was a delight to listen to! Best of luck. :)

The continued quest to rate albums with few reviews to hopefully get some in return

The piano reminds me of the quieter moments in the Touhou Games, mostly the menu theme for Touhou 6. In those games, the piano is little more than a calm before the storm, while you commit to it fully. I wish some of the background elements were a bit more pronounced, as it would have helped differentiate the tracks and highlight some more harmonic ideas within them. Still, solid entry.

I get your feedback, thanks for rating !

Nice soundtrack! I do think it would have benefitted from more variety, but for a snapshot for a jam this is really nice!

Good soundtrack, with a very good composition. Nice work and good luck!

The tracks are very good and the instruments sound amazing. The tracks are very similar, but I dont think its that big of a deal. In general, I can absolutely imagine these tracks in an horror game or an rpg :D

Serenity - Sounds like a good intro!

Tension is sad, a little threatening and exciting. I like the way the strings complement the piano.

Welcome To My Abode - Sounds... Majestic!

Hey, you have a very beautiful accompaniment with an interesting piano part!

You shouldn't worry too much about the equipment. I am sure you will be able to use all the power that you have now, and you will do as well as this soundtrack! Good job

Thanks!

Hi! These tracks are extremely commendably, for their well writter piano melodies. Seriously, a lot of other submissions have lot less complicated piano patterns, and rely more on vibes.

I noticed that you often have strings in the background, whenever they get louder, they are really interesting, I think it's a shame that they stay in the background so often.

Also, on the note of orchestration, oftentimes it's advantageous to separate different instruments to their own section on the keyboard. In most cases you don't want two separate instruments playing around the same notes.

Overall incredible job! I hope to see you in next years Jam as well!

Thanks ! I really appreciate your feedback !

your use of piano is really good! I think with some more backing instruments to make everything sound fuller this could be even better!

Yupp totally ! I think I might've slacked on the bass part

I enjoyed listening to your OST. Particulary  Welcome To My Above, I loved the aesthetic choices you made there.   What it evokes is so beautiful regardless of the sound quality. Well done!

These are good pieces! I have a few notes though.

First off, don't worry so much about having incredible gear or software yet! Learning to use what you have access to right now to the fullest extent will serve you greatly when you finally do upgrade!

In terms of the music, you've got great pieces, but listening consecutively makes them seem very similar to each other. A way to combat this with future pieces is to play hot potato with the melody and harmony, handing them off to different instruments or groups. A lot of what makes or breaks music like this is orchestration, and that involves determining what instruments play certain parts and when. With the base knowledge and skills you have now, as evidenced by these songs, I think you would do really really well just practicing handing off the melodies between instruments. It would give your music a lot of texture and really take it to the next level, regardless of the current sound quality!

Plus, you'll blow your own mind if you practice orchestration before dropping big money on high quality VSTs ;D

Either way, I think you did a great job with this submission!

a good bash! I like the Idea and serenity does give off the right vibe for it, so you hit the brief pretty well. I will also second mr Society Man and say the call and response is a nice technique which was used well.

In terms of critique: As you say the production is a bit lacking but I can't blame you for that - DAWs can be pricey. In terms of composition I think there could be a bit more space for the melody to sink in, particularly the first minute of 'serenity' is quite continuous. Serenity also has room to be slowed down a bit or have some tempo stretching, it's serene init, peaceful. I also think that you could do with a bit more on the percussion side, especially in 'tension'. percussion I find can really lift the energy of a piece.

Overall, good effort! Keep at it!

This is a cool interpretation of the theme! I like the variation in the piano instrumentation between the three tracks, and the call-and-response between the piano and strings in "welcome to my abode" is especially nice.
