Description
I took the "Runaway" theme and thought of a game, where the levels have the player escape from an enemy or a hazard, by running through the level in a limited amount of time.

The first track "BRIEFING" is for the start of the level, where the player is explained the level and the clearing conditions.

The second track "CHASE!" is a track that plays while trying to clear the level.

The third track "Mission Complete" plays after successfully passing the level/stage, during the score screens.

Software used:

I used Steinberg Cubase Artist 11 for the whole thing.

All the instruments are from a library for the Kontakt sampler VST, called Magical Box 2.0.

Magical Box:

Message from the artist:
Thanks for listening/rating!

Theme:

Runaway

How does it fit the theme?
I used the "Runaway" theme as the basis for my imaginary game concept, for which i wrote the tracks.

I love the retro feel! It sounds like they could be from an actual game! They actually remind me a bit of Kirby music, especially "Chase!" (which is my favorite). Great work!

Thanks! I played a lot of Kirby games for the gameboy advance growing up.

Some great retro vibes, I feel like I can visualize the game. My favorite track is Mission Complete

Briefing - Cool. Definitely getting an old school game vibe here. I quite like that synth choir-ey sound and how it counters the string. Also like how the bass line keeps chugging along. Feels a bit spy-ey.

Chase! - Neat tune. I quite like how this sounds, especially with those little chords nicely keeping the pace. It sounds quite friendly. I'm not sure if I quite feel the urgency of a chase until the very end, when it really starts to ramp up. Still a great track though!

Mission Complete - Yeah, this definitely sounds like a mission complete track. Excellent work on this one! I really love the little jingle at the start too. Definitely harkens back to the early console days.

After listening the entire soundtrack once more, I think my favourite was the briefing. I really like the suspense in that one.

Great work!

You really nailed the old school vibe and OMG These SNES instruments simply warm my heart. I could not help but smiling.

I'll definitely check out Magical Box 2.0. Can you check for me if they have that WAAHHH WAAAHH MAXIMUM WAAAHHH synth from the original Pilot Wings bonus stage? (If so shut up and take my money!)

Thanks for sharing this!

Unfortunately, they don't have it. Most of the Magical Box sounds are new sounds, made to replicate the sounds of SNES era RPG games. Plogue's Chipsynth SFC might be more up your alley, since you can easily take instruments from SNES games with it. I would probably have gotten that myself, but when i bought magical box it wasn't out released yet.

Thanks for checking.

Still a pretty good collection of SNES sounds. I'll check out  Chipsynth SFC too. Thanks!
