Description
Legends tell of roaming four spirits that control the seasons. They say the hero who can win their favor will gain the power to control the seasons. After a grueling summer, a village is wracked by drought. One timid child, inspired by the turning of the leaves, gathers the courage to seek out the spirits and save the village.

Orchestral soundtrack for an adventure rpg. The player goes through 4 areas relating to each season's qualities, and completes each spirit's task to gain their power.

Crunchyleaf Path: Overworld theme for the autumn forest
Spirit of Frosty Perseverance: Boss battle theme. Player chases a fox up the snowy mountain for the duration of the track, with the difficulty scaling with the track's progression.
Spirit of Tides and Courage: Final boss, a giant serpent. The player is on a ship, and must wait for it to surface to get hits.
I used Reaper, and started by thinking about my dream composing job. I'd love to write battle music, and my favorite genre is orchestral with a classical flare, so I came up with the story after setting up the project. I started with the summer track, and took a motif from it to use in the others.

Theme:

Story of Seasons
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
Autumn: Rustling shakers and descending piano line for leaves. Crunchyleaf Path based around a forest in autumn.
Winter: Harpsichord and bells in Spirit of Frosty Perseverance. Based around chasing a fox through the snow.
Summer: Shakers and tambourine mimic a fish, marimba for a tropical feel. Spirit of Tides based around a tropical sea serpent.
For the picture, the protagonist in my game is a girl from a village experiencing drought; I interpreted the dark section as her fear and struggle to save the village.

Ooooooooo love the instrumentation! The waltz was definitely my favorite. This whole collection gave me Octopath Traveler vibes with it's sense of almost melancholy and driven character objective. The motif was well executed as well, giving defined continuity to the whole experience. Great job!

Quite a serious and emotional song for a title of "Crunchyleaf path" haha. That said I really enjoyed it. Reminds me of Hornet's theme from Hollow Knight. The waltz is also very enjoyable. Great overall sound quality and orchestration. I'm curious which libraries you used. Great use of leitmotif too. It's especially effective when the main theme returns again for the final boss fight. Great job!

Thanks for the feedback! I used EastWest for the majority of instruments.

Crunchyleaf Path: You have done a great job with orchestration. The string, flute, piano/harp, and tambourine work together to create an epic RPG adventure sound. You also have a very solid melody that is well-written, easily followable, and supported by the harmony, but also not too predictable.

Spirit of Frosty Perseverence: The way this song starts slow and accelerates throughout the piece is subtle, but definitely adds to the building intensity throughout. I also appreciate how you emphasized beats 2 and 3 quite heavily giving a strong waltzy quality that helps drive the piece forward.

Spirit of Tides and Courage: The spacing of the original melody with the strings interjecting in the beginning gives the sense that there is danger approaching. The use of the deep taiko/bass drums is spectacular in this piece. The flowy string and piano arpeggio parts are my favorite sections of this song and definitely give me the sense of being on a ship in the sea.

Overall: It is evident that these tracks have been composed with great care and attention to detail. You have an excellent sense of melody, and when to exchange the melody with another instrument or when the right time is to flare with a background instrument. The crunchyleaf path and the spirit of tides and courage tracks sound very similar so I’m not sure that the imagery of autumn contrasting with summer is abundantly clear, but they are both well-crafted tracks that portray different emotions and situations well. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work!
