This is a very extreme development approach, I have to admit I struggled to launch the game (5-10 minutes to realize it needed a password, and not a trivial one), and then the gameplay is cryptic.

I admire your resolve to do a game using bat scripts, but sadly it is too challenging to distribute.

With all the amazing game development technology available in the year 2020 you choose to use... MS-DOS batch files! I got to give you 5 stars in presentation just for the novelty factor.

But unfortunately it's just not much fun to play due to a couple odd design choices. First a pretty pointless password, then having to look at the game instructions for 25 seconds with no way to skip them, then playing Tic Tac Toe against a completely random AI with unnecessarily long pauses. After 8 of 25 wins I couldn't take it anymore and quit.

Thanks for playing, and yes each minigame is intentional, after all it's meditation to gain stats, the stats don't come for free just by expecting a few seconds to pass, you actually have to work for your stat gains, but if you want a faster method just press "Z" and you will be fishing it also is quicker and is designed for people who can't do the "Tic Tac Toe" or "Math Problems" , lastly once stats are boosted then it's time to press "F" for Fight, I would say your case since you don't like the minigames, just Fish! The "Tic Tac Toe" you need 25 wins... why 25 well it's because it's a super simple game to play thus Random A.I. makes it possible to get the needed 25 wins, cuz 5 loses means failed meditation! Next up 5 correct math answers gets you the win, why just 5, well the math is several parts so it takes about same time on paper as the 25 games of "Tic Tac Toe" and 15 loses just means Failed Meditation! Last up on the chopping block Fishing is the fastest bet it's limited on what you can gain from it but though repetitive, will give you the needed stats to eventually win the game! I know Meditation is a pain but it still gives the best payouts! Also once your strong enough lets say 2000 Pounce for instance I know that's a grind but that alone is just enough to win the game otherwise just fighting and collecting 5 yarn will boost stats faster than mobs can gain stats! Rat2 has a 1 in 250 chance to drop Yarn if my memory is correct, Rat3 always drops Yarn, Rat1 never drops Yarn! Rat1 is 1 purrs, Rat2 is 10 purrs, Rat3 is 100 purrs, Evil Rat is game winning if you beat it! For every 525 Purrs you have you will get +1 Cat Nip and also +1 Pounce! So the pace of the game due to all the places you can gain stats is well beyond fast enough pace! You just gotta know where to look and how to do it! :D and again "Thanks For Playing" :D

Also 25 seconds for game instructions gives the player enough time to write down the needed info because otherwise it can be easy to forget as the terms I used are not standard in most games! I will also add a function to the end of it to disable it just like the password so a player can skip it each time! :D

Hmm, when I run the setup BAT I can see it creating a bunch of files, but then they all get immediately deleted.  Is there a trick I'm missing?

Developer

No trick it's cuz the game creates save files and no it doesn't delete, it actually moves them to a folder in which the game understands and can work with! I did it so the files don't clutter the desktop so what I did was make it save the newly created files to a folder in which the game will step up or down between 2 specific folders to read and or write to save files in order for the game to run! :D I hope you were able to play the game so far at least there should be like a "Start Game 2020 Jam Game" clickable thingy to play the game! From what you told me so far I think your on Windows so your like half there I think in playing the game! :D
