The visuals and music are excellent and blend very well; the SFX are also on point. One of the games with a more polished aesthetic in this jam and truly one of my favorites.

I encountered an error at one point and couldn't continue; I got stuck.

A little polish and you have a really great game!

Hey Check it out, only got to play for a few minutes because I had to go to work! Will come back and give it a proper test run 3/5 on first impression!

Check out Chick-Magnet and give it a rate/comment if you have the time!

(The WebGL is more up-to-date but wasn't included as a Jam submission) Thanks, GameDev&Design

Ok So i tried it out for real, and when it started up the player went invisible? I thought this was part of the idea of the game? I could move and attack and select and stuff but I just couldn't see myself? Not sure what this is about?

I really enjoyed the presentation, the environments and their color palette, the character's sprite and animations, the audio, the little text snippets integrated in the environment. It was all very promising!

Sadly I couldn't get very far as I've encountered a few technical issues, including one that basically ended my run.

First, I would often get stuck midway when coming up slopes. I had to backtrack a few pixels and retry. The collision box seemed a bit too big and "sticky". I also experienced micro freezes during gameplay (and one not so micro).

I was lost in the second zone and trying to open the pause menu to see if there was a map, but couldn't find the right key. Except after a while it started appearing on its own when jumping, which is what made the game unplayable afterward.

For the few things I could do before it happened, I was a bit confused by the first barrier. The switch was a bit too far away from it and not immediately noticeable. It also required some precision jumping to hit it and didn't play any sound effect when triggered. It took me some time to connect the dots and proceed.

I also spent a lot of time stuck on the warp instructions, as the button prompt didn't match my keyboard. Now, keyboard localization is a nightmare too big for jam games, but controller support would have been nice and could have avoided that.

I think there's a lot of potential with this game and I would like revisiting it when those technical issues are sorted ;)

Thank you for your opinion! We're working on fixing these issues, currently the phantom pause menu is the one we're trying to fogure out haha.

Did the pause menu appear randomly? Or did you press any specific button?

Submitted

I couldn't tell, I tried every key on my keyboard as I was looking for the menu, so no idea which one triggered it...

Great game! The visuals are great. I really like the animated tileset & parallax BG. The warping ability is very cool & original, but I had trouble figuring it out at first. I think you should introduce the double jump & warp separately. There is good visual variety in the levels. I encountered a bug towards the end of my play through where jump was triggering the pause menu.

Developer

Hi! Thank you so much for your feedback! May I ask in which part of the map did you manage to open the pause menu? I'm pretty much sure we've been disabling it from appearing in this version for the jam. Or perhaps could you tell us which keys did you press causing the pause menu to show up? Someone before you has mentioned using down arrow but it's not bound to anything. We're trying to replicate this bug on our end :)

FIrst of all, good job! The game sounds and looks very nice.

I would have enjoyed the game more , if it had gamepad support, though. And if there were a little bit more explanations.

Unfortunately, I also discovered a bug, where whenever I jump, the pause menu would open and then close again. And since there was no save file I had to start anew

Developer(+1)

Thanks you so much for the feedback! We plan on adding gamepad support in the future as we didn't have enough time this run.

That is quite an odd bug that we haven't experienced. If you have any steps to replicate that would be very appreciated!

Cheers

I will try again in the next few days and see whether I can reproduce it

I encountered the same bug on level 2, but I'm not sure what triggered it

Developer

Thanks for reporting that. Glad you played our game too!
Trying very hard to replicate that bug but are unable to do so.

Best of luck! I see a lot of promise in this game if it is developed further.

Developer

Heads up folks, we've just updated our project fixing a bug with level misplacement. We've had an issue with synchronizing our files but it should be all good now. Go check it out :)

Hi,

The graphic is awersome.

the music is amazing.

The ambiance is there.

Whenever I go to the pause menu I am stuck (probably forgot to add a way to get out of the pause menu)

I am also not quite sure what the stance are for ?

Maybe an a explanation at the beggining or in the a menu.

I did go to the left but I am quite unsure if i needed to go there ?

the trap hit insanely hard ahaha.

Continue the good work it just need more explanation for the beggining.

Cheer !

Thanks for the feedback! We will definitely be adding a bit more direction and explanation in the starting area. Sounds like you were on the right track!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!

- Yeah the pause menu isn't taking user focus for some reason, It's my first time in Godot and programming UI/Audio haha. Definitely needs to be fixed. So we just disabled the pause menu for now. ALT+F4 FTW!

- Yeah, writing isn't our specialty haha. Ran out of tutorial time :( . The stances are 4(eventually) ways to have different weapon types. You slowly unlock them as you explore the world. Your first objective is to unlock the red stance.

- Yeah so that's a map bug, Git LFS didn't notify us that the level designers' import files were not going across properly, so myself and the programmer realized too late that it wasn't correct. Maybe we can get those files tomorrow when the LD is awake

- F those spikes right!? XD

Thanks for trying it out!

This crashed every time I tried to run it. Do I need to do something?

Developer

Yes sorry! I think we fixed the issue. But now Git LFS blocked our level designer from uploading so the map is mostly correct haha. But our level designer is asleep. It is what it is I suppose

Developer(+1)

It should work now just in case :) Files have been updated
