really liking this entry (so far), great music (which kind of reminds me of game of thrones in places), and really nice graphics. Got a crash while playing it though after getting hit just after dropping off the carrot (I think) to the cats, in case this helps:

Wow, this is a good entry! Congratulations. The atmosphere is really nice and the controls are smooth. Love that opening run on the marimba. Here are a few thoughts:

1. I really liked the art but sometimes it wasn't very legible. It wasn't always clear what was passable and what was not. Also, the lights were neat but a little distracting. It would help if it was a little more diffuse. The screen transitions were a little disorienting

2. Some of the platforming sequences were really difficult, which is fine, but they really would've benefitted from closer save points. I almost rage quit because I got tired of backtracking. I'm pretty good with zx+arrows but really bad at wasd platforming.

3. I was generally just really confused. Wasn't sure what my goal was or what stuff was. Is this... a carrot? What do I do with this? Why am I collecting cats??? What do I do with them??? I almost gave up until I looked at the game page and saw there were buttons for projectiles. Some more clarity via in-game instructions would be fantastic.

4. Dropping into the water and immediately landing on a mine thing is annoying.

5. Sound effects will add a lot!

Overall, this is one of the best I've played so far. Great work!

Edit: One more thing I forgot: the game would often crash on me when i died.

Cute graphic design, simple but appealing and cozy. Music can multiple the atmosphere, wish it be there.

Nicely implemented platforming movement control. One of the best I've tested so far here on jam. Maybe variable jumping height will even add to it, maybe not, I'm not sure. In a dangerous underwater corridor I wish I have better control over character vertical movement.

In some places passage between screens is not very convenient, crosses the character, it would be better to just move on the boundary between screens, not interrupt movement by standing on platform. But it's minor.

I didn't understood cat throwing mechanic well because of lack of cats. I found only one when wondered almost all over the world and throwed it to nowhere to just lost without any purpose.

I'd wish to see in advance the danger in the water. However, it's minor because the damage is relatively small.

The most thing I missed after some time is answer to "what am I looking for? why do I wander here? what is my goal?". It would great to know the goal somewhere near the begining.

Nevertheless wandering is pleasant thanks to nice variable backgrounds. Map could be very helpful also because the world is quite big.

In general, great start, I wish to see it as a full game! My children also liked the setting.

This is really goood! I liked Most of the things. After getting the water ability I was like this game is dope!

Suggestion:

The art was a little too dark, it was little hard to see

This was pretty cool! I like the character's glide mechanic. The characters were charming and everything looked really nice.

The exploding enemies could be a bit frustating at times because they appear out of nowhere. The one outside the cat's lair is particularly annoying when trying to leave, especially because I've already been hit so many times on my way there. I did eventually get the cat the carrot and make it back to the save point though!!

Buuut I uh... couldn't figure out what to do after that. I collected 2 floating cats and then didn't find anywhere else on the map to go. There were some blocks that I figured that cats would break since they had vaguely cat-like icons on them, but maybe I didn't know what button to press? In general the controls were hard to know, WASD is unusual for a game without mouse. (Seems like it might be more accessible though so I'm not gonna complain about that)

I think also it's been said before, but the game could benefit a lot from more sound effects. Damage, the electrical buzzing explosions, jumping sounds... the world is strangely quiet despite being full of nice music.

I will be taking your opinions into account for new updates, the truth is that they have asked for sound effects, so the first thing to work on will be that aspect. Thank you very much for playing it, it is really appreciated.

I got stuck there too. You have to right click to aim at the block, then left click to fire the cat.

What I liked

  • I felt like the game was visually cohesive
  • The music match the environment.
  • I really like the hover implementation.

Feedback/Suggestions

  • This game would step up a notch with more player feedback, specifically taking damage. I knew I was taking damage visually, but I feel that having a hurt sound would really give you that "oh crap" feeling that I love when playing a game. That sense of danger or urgency.

Overall, just the player feedback issue really sticks out so congrats on a really cool and polished entry!

Seriously thank you very much for playing. I will keep your suggestions in mind for possible future updates. I hope you have enjoyed it.
