I'd like to finish this but not sure if I'll be able to do so before the voting deadline so I'm leaving a comment now. Here's what I have so far:

Wow, what an amazing game! Especially with jam time limits. The graphics are gorgeous and do a good of making areas distinct even with the limited palette. The music is great and sets the mood nicely. I like how the story is delivered - it's cool when games make you piece together a narrative from scraps of information you find. There's lots of great content and gameplay ideas- the spider chases are very tense!

My one criticism is that the lack of access to a map. it's rough navigating such a large world without one. I saw a map button in the controls but it doesn't do anything so I presume it's something you have to find first.

Thanks for playing and commenting! The map is located near the god statue in lower city, it’s an optional item but can be found relatively early on. It’s not the most useful however

I love your pixel cat. And how she use the pistol. Nice work! I will continue the quests and my girlfriend too.

Really good game so far! I just got past the spider bit, I thought it was very cool and neat that the mid-chase computer essentially builds up dread that you're going to have to go back into the spider room and run even more. The art style is top notch, very pleasing to look at and despite the minimalism you somehow managed to make different parts of the map feel fairly distinct. I also enjoyed the humor of picking up a GUN and only knowing how to throw it, then just discarding it for (as far as I know) the rest of the game.

Some feedback:

- I liked the spider part, but I think the tension could be improved with some change in the music (even just a tempo increase) so you really know the spider is chasing you. A minor nitpick would be that the save point for the spider chase could be slightly closer, or that dying to the spider could just send you back to the beginning of the chase.

- I keep finding random items and I don't know what to do with them. I see some people mentioned a trading sequence which is cool, but I don't even know what I've collected. Is there an indicator or an inventory of some sort?

- I'm currently stuck on the cross-room fan puzzle, I just can't get high enough and I also can't find any alternate paths I should try to follow.

All in all I'm really enjoying it, it's very soothing to play through. I can't believe just two people put this much content into a game, really good job!

Ah, okay. I downloaded it directly from the submission page so I didn't see the game description. =/

This is an absolutely gorgeous game! It was a pleasure playing through it start to finish, even if I haven't found all the secrets, like the trading sequence (no idea who would want an umbrella, lol). I only have a couple nitpicks on the technical side:

  • The spider chase sequences leave very little space for error, making them a bit frustrating to get through. Whenever the spider's AI would get stuck on the geometry and momentarily stops pursuing, it was a sigh of relief, even if that probably wasn't intended functionality.
  • Some of the fans don't propel you high enough and there's some tricky triple jump manipulation from screen to screen that is necessary to progress, which can also get a bit tiresome due to the precision required.
  • The map is a bit useless, as it doesn't really help without having a full scale map to compare to, or marking a variety of obstacles for later.
  • Sometimes I wasn't able to tell that a room exit was actually an exit and I was wandering around until I decided to rub up against the wall just in case

Other than those two issues though, I truly enjoyed this experience! The abilities were nicely varied and saw great use throughout the very well designed world map. Honestly, great job :)

I agree that the spider sequences are a little hard (Even though they were made easier!)

Fans in general probably aren’t a super good fit for a screen by screen game like this (Since they’ll just unload once you leave the top of the screen)

It’s often brought up that the map isn’t very helpful that’s because it’s not), It mostly exists because it’s expected in a metroidvania

This is a problem that we are aware of, but not entirely sure how to fix outside of putting decoration on walls to make it clear that they are collideable. (this problem is only an issue in fullscreen mode with the grain filter turned off, but can still be pretty major)

Thank’s for playing and for the feedback! A lot of the secrets are pretty hard to find, but the umbrella has no use.

Beautiful game, I loved everything about it, the atmosphere is really pleasing to me.

I only got some trouble phasing through walls or going to places I weren't supposed to and got stuck a few times.

Being able to zoom out the map and have just the borders instead of a full rectangle to indicate the current room would have been nice, but I'm probably just nitpicking here.

But it's very good, and the spritework/colors are really nicely done.

Thanks for playing! Yea in the jam version of the game, there are a few unintentional dash spots. Unfortunately, the map is extremely simple for a number of (mostly technical) reasons. A standard metroidvania style map won’t work too well in this sort of game where every room is the same size. I could potentially add markers for save points in the future

so far this is the best game i played in the jam.

the polish, the background, the story, the items, everything is great!
