Very fun platformer. Art style was great. The game was a bit challenging at times but the different mechanics were fun to use. Great job overall!

Nice platformer game. Love the milk skills :D Intruducing new mechanics along the way was very cool. I love the character design its so cute :d Like all jam platformers this is a hard game. It took me 110 deaths to complete even tough I am a platformer guy :D You can implement input buffering so that way the game wont need frame perfect inputs. Also the cheese string can be reworked currently it feels a bit wonky.

Overall loved it. You used the prompt very good. Nice job !

i love the art bro, great game

Developer

Thanks man! Glad you liked it :D

Very fun, I really like the art, but I struggled a bit with some levels lol.

Developer

Thanks a bunch! Haha yeah, I didn't tone down the difficulty in some rooms nearly enough!

What a unique game haha, interesting prompts to work with. Game was pretty solid, a bit too hard at times and the cheesestring mechanic could have been a bit quicker/more responsive, but apart from that this is a pretty good entry. Character was fun to play and the lava rising added a lot of challenge to the platforming. Well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Seems like a lot of people struggled with difficulty on this one, gonna need to learn to make things a lot easier than I think they need to be haha.

I can definitely see a faster cheese string being more useful, thanks for pointing that out!

I love the different music tracks, they all add to the game in their own way. I love the style too, all of the art works perfectly together. The lava rose a bit too fast for me but I'm probably just not used to being a superhero yet. And finally, milk (I  had to mention the milk concept, it's amazing XD)

I genuinely don't understand why nobody has made a TV Show about the amazing adventures of Deiry. Lactokenisis is such an underrated power ๐Ÿ˜”

Developer

Thank you, the tracks were a great find, wish I could make stuff like that haha. Also happy to hear about the art. I'm still quite new to pixel art so it's good to know I'm doing something right, though the tileset could definitely use some work ๐Ÿ˜€

And I'm sorry about the difficulty, that's something I struggled with in previous jams as well ๐Ÿ˜…

Had a bunch of fun with the milk idea ๐Ÿ˜‚ And it really is underrated, only ever seen one episode on it on Misfits, ts ts

Oh yeah, I definitely struggle with difficulty too.  Something I heard Vimlark say is to make the game feel easy for you. Since you're playtesting the game all the time you'll be a lot better at it than other people so your perception of difficulty will be warped.

good game but it needs a restart button great work

Developer

Thank you :D It actually does have one, you can press R to restart. I didn't have enough time to mention it in game but I'll add it to the description now.

Nice platformer! Vesuvius kind of looks like Core from Celeste, and Deiry kind of looks like Ori, and I like it! I appreciate that you took the time to make a tight-to-control character too - a lot of jam games don't put enough time into it. Just a few things...

- Very small gripe, but Pompeii's citizens don't have the same pixels per unit as everything else (Everything else is fine though)

- The background felt incredibly bland during the tutorial compared to the rest of the game...

- Cheese string felt incredibly unresponsive compared to everything else - the string itself should probably extend faster, and you should probably be able to cancel it with a jump as soon as it reaches the wall.

- It was kind of annoying having to cheese string after every LPA. (By the way, you should have used them more - they would be so cool if they were a little faster)

- Before I realized you could reset the scene with R, I got softlocked out of the tutorial for double-jumping too much :-/

- THOSE CYCLES ARE SOOOO TIGHT! Especially this room below, which took me forever. (I've made a stupidly hard platforming game for a jam too, I understand the feeling of wanting to make things just a little tighter... but you could have nerfed that second lava rise in that room by half a second or so...)

Overall, a really enjoyable entry that I had a lot of fun with!

Developer

Oh wow that's a lot of feedback, thank you so much! Ori was 100 percent an inspiration haha, love that game :D I agree with the comments about the cheese string, it could definitely use some rework! Though I'm not sure what you mean by LPA haha, google isn't helping much :D

The reset function was added literally in the last hour of submission time (fun fact: it also deleted the ability to skip the tutorial lol). Though I should have at least mentioned it in the description sorry about that! Also sorry about that room, the idea of it was to avoid the rising bubbles to have enough time to make it to the later ones, so I wanted to make sure you couldn't reach them if you did hit one. Though I do have trouble with judging good difficulty for these.

Again, thanks for taking the time to play the game and writing your comment, it really helped a lot! :D

Sorry, I meant the Lactose Particle Accelerator mechanic you added in the last two rooms - I just wrote "LPA" because that was what was on their sprites...

But yeah, they could be sped up a little as they felt a little sluggish, and it would be handy if when you rammed into a wall with them you instantly entered the wall cling state.

Developer

Oooh I'm dumb ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Thought you were talking about some specific platforming design thing I wasn't aware of haha. Definitely agree with you on that one. Honestly I'm not very happy with those rooms, they were pretty rushed, I spent the entire day and night designing the levels so I was kinda dead at that point ๐Ÿ˜…

cool platformer! The gameplay is really fun also the art is really good

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D I'm still new to pixel art so that's good to hear

A lot of fun! The platforming is challenging but not impossible, and it was a great way to incorporate your prompts! The sound was really well done too!

Developer

Thanks a bunch for playing! Difficulty is tough to get right ๐Ÿ˜€ With a fast paced game like this, I wanted to make sure it wasn't too easy but I didn't want people to give up after a few deaths ๐Ÿ˜‚

Submitted

A really cool platformer! The gameplay is really fun and original. Sounds, art and animations are REALLY good too!

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Think my tilesets could use some work, but I'm quite happy with the character animation ๐Ÿ˜„ Wish the music was mine haha, they're a jam ๐ŸŽต

The character animation , introduction and general graphics are really nice! I found the platforming a little tight but still very addictive. Awesome job :

Thanks a lot for the feedback! :D

This was made for speedrunners, but it was fun.

Developer

Yeah man, probably suits that playstyle the best :D Thanks for playing!
