my first impression is it's quite easy to play around randomly
the creating pattern by holding the mouse press is really nice
but maybe if there is a time indicator when currently playing the pattern, it would help to understand at which pattern something feels strange.
I tried to make 2 patterns, save it but I don't know how I can load the patterns back after reopening it X"D
Thanks for testing it out, and you are definitely right! there's should be a lot more information to reveal to a user, if not it's really "flying blind".
By right, the app should auto-restore from the point you quit (using a SaveOnQuit autosave) so you shouldn't need to manually load your previous work. But I definitely want to make the feature where you can just drop your .sml file into the app window and it will load it. :)
Cool. Awesome.
A small note: I couldn’t start the music from the browser. Is there an alternative key to F4?
Thanks for taking it for a spin! I should include an in-app notification for web users... due to the limitation of running on web (unable to write files to a file system) the music data cannot be saved into MML which is then used for audio playback.
In the future, I hope to be able to make the audio playback independent of the MML export flow so that web users can also enjoy their tunes. I'll be exploring what can be done safely via browser.
I think f8 is mapped to build not play? if i press f7 it shows the build/export popup but so does f8 so i can't preview the whole track only bits with f4
Thanks for reporting. So interesting, searching "f7" doesn't have any results in the code, so I am wondering how that binding happened.
Yes, the preview code is quite funky. To preview the whole track, you need to click on the pattern again (eg "a" "b" "c") which will trigger a compile of all the individual tracks (the MML preview window should overflow)
