The Linux binary ran for me. :)
I'd encourage you to keep working on it as you mention!

When I'm jumping enemies are going the other way around (jumping into the ground). When crouching I'm still getting hit. Bullets are not affected and fired as I'm still standing :(

These mechanics were mostly unfinished, although built in from the start, we didn't really get to make them work. I think the new sprite that the current version (on gh) has actually allows crouhing and it works. It's all pretty cheesy right now, but we're planning to add a physics/collision engine to make collisions and jumping better.

This crashes with "libSDL2_ttf-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file"; I guess it got left out of the download somehow?

The shared files aren't bundled, sorry. You have to install them with your package manager for now.. The list of needed libraries is in the description.
