Good choice to stick with a tried and true genre! I sometimes get too creative and end up with mess.
This is a solid game - or maybe a start of one. There's so much you could do! Adding sound effects adds a lot of life to a game, and it's easy. Also, flipping the player sprite horizontally towards the mouse would be nice too, and maybe changing the mouse cursor to indicate that the player shoots towards the mouse position. Oh, and flipping sprite horizontally would be good for monsters - unless they're all symetrical and wouldn't matter anyway.
And thanks for supporting arrow keys along with the usual wasd!
If you rate and play my game, please leave me some feedback! It's one of the best ways to improve. Thanks!
This was cool. Always nice to see a game with a beginning, middle, and end!
I had a few cases where enemies got stuck or disappeared and I couldn't quite tell why, but overall, I enjoyed the experience, and it was nice to have a game where a pacifist run was the default experience rather than something I'm doing on my own.
I did spot some visible seams from time to time in the tilemap when the camera was moving. This might be sorted by enabling the User GPU Pixel Snap setting in Godot's project settings (under Rendering -> 2D). Relevant documentation can be found here.
I love the idea of running away from monsters like a coward and optimizing away your path to the end lol very fun game! (though i ragequitted lol)
