Cool game! I like the idea of having to destroy the portals that spawn the wraiths to proceed. It would be cool to add more enemy types and levels to build upon this more!

Developer

i wanted to make a buch of extra conditions and smarter enemies too, sadly it couldnt be done in time, thank you so much for the feedback!

This was kinda fun!  TBH I had the most fun with what turned out to be a bit of a broken mechanic with the game, though:  You can fire both spells simultaneously with little lag between shots.  So I found myself just spamming both all over the place rather than alternating strategically.  Something that could have helped to avoid this becoming broken would be something like a shared ammo system, where you have to cool down before you can use fire, or heat up before you can use cold, etc.

I had a cool idea that you had to balance temperature with your shots but rather than balancing your temperature i thought of making the room itself change depending on how much you use an attack, but that idea is a very cool one, im glad you liked the game and thanks for the feedback!

Great Game but It looks kind of similar to this tutorial

Developer(+1)

I wish i knew of this tutorial while making my game, the ai in this wouldve been better for my submission, i also think all top down shooters as barebones as mine are bound to feel similar but oh well, glad you enjoyed my game

Fantastic art on the wraiths! As others have said it would be better if they were a tad slower, even if just to see their art more clearly. I think they can also clip into walls which makes for a very difficult experience. I've heard before for game jams it is better to go on the side of being too easy rather than too hard

Thank you for the feedback, the reason i gave it such a steep difficulty on the second level was because it was a failure of an attempt to extend a bit of the gameplay time, funnily enough the ice wraiths are faster than the fire ones and they have other small differences between them since i wanted to make them more different between each other but failed due to time restrains, regardless i learned a lot from this decisions and will take them into account for my next projects for sure.

A good take on the theme and one that could work very well with some fine-tuning. The speed of the enemies was mentioned several times already. In the current state, the optimal strategy is to madly mash the shoot buttons and hope you survive which really isn't an ideal approach to any game. I would have really enjoyed some animations on the player character as well, but I understand that can be tough in such a short time.

Developer

Having a better workflow is my priority right now while learning godot, since i wasted a lot of time due to the lack of one, some animations were made but couldn't find a way to implement them to the gameplay since i had a few more attacks in mind, thank you for the feedback!

The visuals are very nice, and the idea is very interesting. The movement is also pretty cool, as you're not jumping or walking but instead floating. I definitely agree with the idea of slowing enemies, but adding a couple of i-frames after getting hit to help the player out would be a good addition as well. A black outline on the white text will help legibility. Great job!

Developer

Thank you, i spent most of the time on visuals and learning to implement the basic mechanics so i came short on time with the design part of the game, the outline to the text was such an obvious thing i cant believe i missed it completly! many thanks for the feedback i really appreciate it.

Fun game, and the link to the jam theme is a clever one. As has already been commented, the game is a tad tricky due to enemy movement speed, so maybe reduce that slightly to allow more tactical gameplay for players. Otherwise, great job on creating all the assets and putting together a solid twin stick shooter!

Developer(+1)

I didnt even know twin stick shooter was a thing!, thank you for the feedback and kind words, getting used to the workflow really is hard, i took waaay too much time on stuff i shouldnt have, but learned a lot in the end, im glad you had fun and thanks for the feedback

Good game that needs some balancing changes to be a great one :)

Also, what happened with fonts? Texts are so hard to read!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, managing time is something i need to learn with my projects since i came so short with it for being stuck on one thing sadly, thanks for the feedback!!

Nice game! I think it needs a bit more balancing still. I just smashed both mouse buttons and destroyed the portals, I didn't even bother with the wraiths. Some sort of cool down between shots would have been nice so I couldn't just spam click so fast. The leap in difficulty from the first level to the last was too big and the wraiths were too fast. Pixel art was great and the levels really looked great so great job on there!

Developer

First of all thanks for the feedback, almost all of the solutions you provided were thought of but i didnt have the time to implement them sadly, i hope to be able to work faster as i grow more comfortable with the engine, i also took more time on the art side of this jam wich hurt the overall making of the game so thats a lesson learned, overall thank you and im glad you enjoyed the game
