I am terrible at rythm games but this is still a good game. Loved the music, visuals, and the concept overall.
One issue I had and might be due to my monitor being 21:9 was that the screen did not scale right. The gameplay was cropped weird where I could see beyond the edges of the stage assets. The notes track bar was also positioned very low and the "D" key was nearly fully cropped off by the bottom of the screen. Not a huge deal cause I could still play it and see the "D" notes in the end.
Noo! definitely expected some bugs with resolutions haha. Canvas were a new (and sometimes hostile) thing for us. Thanks for pointing it out, definitely will fix it in further works.
If this is a Unity Canvas, the `Canvas Scaler` component should have a `UI Scale Mode` field. Try setting it to `Scale With Screen`. The canvas is tricky to get right but found that enabeling scale with screen size helps a lot.
hehe yeah, we had it configured that way, but we'll have to dig deeper to discover the problem. Thanks for the comment, Griggy :)
Cool game with nice visuals. I'll just echo what I said on the stream with maybe making the kaiju footprint frets the same colour as the key they represent. If you really want to be ambitious, an option for a vertical playfield would be nice too.
Thanks Dungeon! The color coding aspect is something we definitely have to do, and a vertical playfield would be crazy hehe. It would be a challenge in it of itself; finding something original in regards to our very obvious inspiration.
Thanks for playing it live and making this possible!
Love the aesthetic, love the sound, controls definitely took some getting used to. Love a good challenge though!
Thanks PwnOfProhecy! It's nice having feedback from a great dev such as you!
On my opinion, Kaiju Hero! is an awesome game that has left me thoroughly impressed from the moment I started playing it. Right from the start, I loved the idea of a group of Kaijus making music to conquer the audience, but what really surprised me was how well the idea was executed.
The game's graphics are vibrant and colourful, and each Kaiju has its own unique personality and style. Additionally, the music in the game is fantastic, and I loved how it was integrated with the gameplay. I truly felt like I was controlling my own rock concert while battling other giant monsters.
The control system is easy to use and felt intuitive right from the start. The variety of moves and abilities for the Kaijus kept me interested and motivated to keep playing, always wanting to discover new ways to cause chaos on stage.
Overall, I highly recommend Kaiju Hero! to anyone looking for a unique and thrilling gaming experience. It's fun, addictive, and will keep you entertained for hours!
Awante Kaiju Hero Viejaa!!
Admittedly this one was a bit rough for me since playing rhythm games with a keyboard isn't my forte (whenever the F key showed up I pretty much gave up on playing it since it felt odd to reach for). That said, I managed to get pretty decent after a couple attempts and the music was nice all the way through. Really solid and I liked the hard rock style of it!
Thanks CrimsonBulb! Even we struggled a bit with the inputs, but it's cool that managed to make Mr. Zilla happy
PD: Little suggestion with the F key: move your index finger from D to F.
